Today, I visited the Infiniti Dealership to check out a 2004 M45 Black on Black with the whole works (Navigation, Spoiler, Chorme wheels, etc.). The car has 37,336 miles on it and it is in pretty good shape. The body has quite a bit of scratches though. The drive is smooth and precise and the engine is powerful and quiet. One thing I noticed is that it has more power in 2nd gear than it does in 1st. I don't know if that has anything to do with the transmission learning the previous owner's driving habits or not but it didn't respond well when I commanded more power.

Anyhow, they are asking $27,448 for it. Is that a bit high? They would only knock off $448 off the price and that's it. I told them my price range is $23,000 - $25,000 but they refused $25,000 and said they can not let the car go for $25,000. I walked away.

I don't find this to be much of a bargain. Granted it has chrome wheels, spoiler and Navigation, I still feel $27,000 makes it less competitive to other used luxury vehicles like the Lexus GS430 that I was also considering before I drove the M. Frankly, I don't care about the chrome wheels or spoiler and can do without those items. What I want is the M Black on Black with Navigation and low miles for a knockout price. This is a tough one.

What do you all think? Also, i've included a link to the vehicle as well as pics below.

I just purchased my 2004 m45 for $28000 out the door in southern california. It was listed at $26,995. I definitely was pissed off with the dealer after all the grinding. I tried to purchase it for 24000 like you did. They did not bite... My 97 LS400 was on it's last legs so i was in need of a vehicle.

Just for comparison, I bought my 2004 blk on blk with all the same options, except chrome wheels. Mine had 25,000 miles on it and I bought it for $25,500. This was also about a year ago. Its all about the demand....mine probably sat on the lot for awhile before they dropped the price. Good luck!

I bought my pearl white/ willow 2003 M45 with 39K miles 2 months ago for $19995. It was listed on the lot for $26950, but it took me 6 hours of negotitions and leaving before I got the deal done. They had only had the car for 13 days, but it was the last day of the month.

There is a lot of wiggle room if people are willing to budge.

The dealer said they had the car for 22 days. I'll wait until the end of the month if I have to before I go back. I'll return with a set price... $23,000.

b16gsr, you got a remarkable deal.

If you look on ebaymotors.com, the asking price of many of the 03-04 M's is around $20K. That's probably what I'll use as ammo when I buy one in a few months, considering many are local...

Hello,While purchasing at the dealership will lead to higher prices, there are advantages. I purchased my 04' Desert Platinum at a Infiniti Dealership for around 28,000. The car had 31,000 miles and was equipped with the technology and luxury packages. The prime advantage to the Infiniti dealership is the car is eligible to be a C.P.O which mine was. Furthermore, adding the Elite warranty only costed $500.00. This warranty adds zero deductable after the original warranty and the coverage of the stereo and nav system as well. The biggest thing that made me seek out an 04' over a 03' was the placement of the CD changer in the dash as opposed to the glove compartment. Might sound stupid I know. Also a full size spare is swell.Regardless what you pay, this car represents insane value.Good LuckMark

Full size spares were used on all Y34s as far as I know. My M is a very very early M and I had a full size.

My mistake. I thought a full size spare might have been an option in '03.CheersMark

Same reason I want an '04 over an '03... the cd changer location.

Yeah, that's what I thought when I stepped inside. Before I could even bring it up, the salesman said to me that the shiftknob is inside because a lot of people steal them. I drove another M45 at another dealership last weekend that had a missing shift knob and they gave me the same story.

They probably take them off so the potential buyer doesnt see the greenish looking color that the wood ones turn into after a few years of use, lol

Amen to that. My shift knob looks like an appendage of the swamp thing. I am far too cheap to spend $200.00 for a new one though.Mark

Vintalage,While the price is high, can it be made C.P.O? If so, you will be able to sell it later on with a transferrable warranty. I know with the Infiniti C.P.O it can only be transferred with the addition of the Elite warranty. At least that is what they told me. If that is wrong, my bad. The car has a higher value when it is a C.P.O, several thousand according to Edmunds. As an aside, I did see a Black/Black M45 with the Technology package in Phoenix on Auto Trader for under 20K. I believe it had 50 thousand miles or so. For what is worth, I would rather have the M45 over a GS430 regardless of price. That being said, if the difference in price is close and you like the Lexus better than I would not let a couple thousand dollars stop you.CheersMark***I see you are in Maryland so perhaps Phoenix is a bit far. I would also recommend Infiniti of Gwinett (Atlanta) they have a bunch of 03-04's on their website for a good bit less.
