alright, after having my heart set on the Xterra i managed to find one in amazing condition for a crazy low price... one problem... 190km on her... what should i look for when getting it checked out, how well do these things do at high km's anything i would have to get changed after buying it?

after taking it for a drive it was pretty solid, but obviously will need suspension bushings and what not.

gonna get it looked at monday afternoon, any info would be much appreciated!

3.3 V6 power everything, leather, no rust, tons of power.

i've heard that sometimes the motor/trans mounts can have excessive corrosion for no apparent reason.

other than that i believe these trucks are pretty reliable -- no real problem spots (but i could be wrong)

3.3 isn't usually equated with tons of power -- is it an s/c?

is it an Super Charger model, that makes a big diff. Plus you have a timing belt every 60k to worry about.

I can't beleive I missed this one! Sorry about the delay. You should be very happy with your purchase. Recall issues and problems with the Xterra are few and far between. The 3.3 is a solid engine but the early model supercharger's did have some longevity issues. I am not sure if the newer models were improved but memory tells me it was a bearing issue that was at the root of the problem.

If you keep your foot out it you should enjoy decent fuel economy ( even though the X weighs in around 4300 pounds).Enjoy!

And BadQ, the timing belts on the Xterra/Frontier get changed at 160,000 KM. Mine is coming up in another 20,000 and I've owned it since 2001.

Get some pics once you get the X home fellow Canuck!

timing belt interval on the 3.3 is 105k miles, not 60k.

If it's an automatic, get that transmission fluid flushed. Don't do a simple pan drop and refil...have a competent shop flush and replace all fluid. I'd also recommend replacing the oil in the diffs and transfer case. Any quality 75 or 80W90 will work for this.

If it has a manual, be sure to replace ONLY with a GL4 oil (not anything that says it's a substitute for all GL's.)

Check the steering components for slop. The steering is the weak link on these trucks...it wears out, but it's not difficult to service. If the truck is at stock height, this is less of a concern.

Otherwise, enjoy the truck.
