I am have been car shopping and I like the 2010 VERSA HATCHBACK S model.

If possible, get a SL, most S owners wish they had.

Why the SL?

Any Pros, cons with your SL or the hatchback in general?

Seats are much better in SL and a lot of the stock options in the SL are wanted by S owners that don't get them.

Sit in S vs SL and test drive if possible.

My old SL Hatch I loved. I had the 6spd, so my only complaint was that it was gear too low in 5th/6th gear were it was running too high of rpms at highway cruising speeds and could have gotten better mpg (though I still averaged 30+ with mixed driving). With a CVT that wouldn't be an issue.

I had my Versa when I had the long commute, when the commute shortened last year I want a little more fun/power. Traded it in on my '03 G35 Coupe that I use daily now.

I'd agree with Biggie. The SL is great for long commutes and trips. I just made a 1000 mile trip in mine last week and between the comfortable seats, the rock-solid cruise control and the CVT transmission, I don't think it would have been the same in the S. Of course, I put on about 700 miles in a normal week just commuting, so it applies there, too! (And my kids like theirs too!)

Thanks for all of the input.

I have been reading about thumps in the front end, check engine light coming on etc.
which made me a little leery.

There seems to be a lot of people that like them.

It was a lot more comfortable than the FIT and SCION XD that I test drove.

I drive about 250 miles a week on the highway so a little more comfort would be nice but not at the expense of quality:)

WOW! That's a lot of cars!!!

I have not seen too many quality issues posted elsewhere so I think I may get the SL.

Is the CUBE on the SL chassis?

Thanks again!

The basic chassis is the same between Versa, Cube, and upcoming Juke. Maybe the Rogue as well (can't remember),

I thought that I wanted an "S" also . . . by the time I added cruise control (or more to the point, the package that included cruise control) I realized for about $600 more, I could get the "SL" which had a lot more little extras PLUS the CVT . . . no brainer!

I'm very happy with my 2010 SL Hatchback!

Mine's over 3.5 years old and has been an excellent car. I wanted an S at first. That is, until I sat in the SL. The interior materials alone sold that deal. Much higher quality fabrics and considering the many things you get for the extra charge for the SL model, it's definitely worth it.

Definitely pay extra for SL. Will get your money back at trade time.
I enjoy convenience of auto power window lower and raise.
SL pkg relatively inexpensive in the US.
transmission personal choice.
CVT revs lower at hwy speed but 6sp still seems to be better mpgs.
My clutch engagement was smoother on my sentra than my versa. Should get better with time.
I cram all kinds of lumber, baggage, tiles, water, etc into my hatch...love it!
Cons? I wish it handled like a G35...
Now if they made a G35 wagon with a small inline6 turbodiesel engine :chuckle:

I loooove the A3 as well as Passat wagon with diesel or 2.0L DI motor,
but couldn't find A3 TDI with manual. :tisk:
Really like new Golf TDI...roomier than Mk IV, more powerful, too.
But all $$$$$$$. Don't want that much debt!
Used Mk V Rabbit/Golf with gas motor does depreciate better[quicker] but 2.5L gas pig!
And vw still using timing belt, not chain!
Wanted a vw again, but all the Versa plusses made my used Versa purchase an easy decision :yesnod
How do you like the A3? What colour?

That's one thing that sucks about VW; having to replace the timing belt ...
I'll have to face that issue when I get a Turbo New Beetle :)

Turbo Beetle?!?!?!?!?!?!?
lol
I don't know whether to :nono: or :yesnod !?!
I like the mega-headroom, and the turbo is very tweakable. Lots of aftermarket stuff too eh?
Sigh, now i pine for vw again,
but Versa SL is smarter purchase! [staying on topic]

how did Ottawa move go?
Is that brother with SE-R?
Where does he ramble about it online?
Take Versa? Minivan?
Somebody else on forum is planning major move with versa.

go with the SL.

Resale value and the comfy seats are a huge plus.
