Looking to buy 1991-1994 Sentra

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Hey NICO folks, got a few questions, but heres a little bit about myself:

Im 16, currently I am driving a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4, and I will be either selling it and buying a nicer Nissan Sentra,(put some $ in the bank from the Pathy), or finding the cheapest Sentra that runs with 4 wheels for under a grand.

I really like the body style of the Sentra from 1991-1994 . I know they come with either a 1.6 ltr 4 cly or a 2.0 ltr 4 cyl. Id like to stick with a manual transmission, as this is something I miss with my Pathfinder and the MPG is better,

SO, this leads to the meat of the thread. What kind of problems should I look for in a used Sentra in that year range? What are some trouble zones for these cars? What can I expect to get for $1k in the Sentra dept? What kind of MPG are you guys getting? ANY help is appreciative on this topic, as I am really unfamiliar with these cars.

Word :D

It sounds like you need a SE-R or 200sx SE-R.

The 2.0 (sr20de) is a really strong motor.

Do so searching for a good car.

BTW we had a great turnout of turbo sentras at one of our Nico meets. Here are some photos.==>http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288580539

Yeah, an SE-R is right up your alley. Upper 20s mpg, even with all those years, 5 speed, torquey, but not lacking in top end, SR20DE. They're great little cars. Pretty much just check for the normal things. Funny noises, take a good look around the engine, the brakes, interior, fluid levels, etc. $1k would be rough, at best, so I think it'd be best to go ahead and sell the Pathfinder and get some cash out of that to put into it. I'm 16 too and I love my Sentra to death, even though it is FWD and lacks boost :D.

Are there any common problems with this model and this model alone? I know the VG30s in the Pathfinders and Hardbodies have their own little quirks., such as the automatic transmission coolers, exhaust manifold studs, etc. to name a few.

Ive got the basic common sense to check the normal stuff when shopping for a car, just wondering if there is anything in particular to check. :pface

I can't think of any. Pretty stout little cars, as long as they're kept up. NISTECH may have some sort of info, but it's not very likely he'll wander in here to Sentra General.

Did a little searching, there are 23 Technical Service Bulletins out for the '94, most of them probably apply to '91-'93 as well. Not uncommon for there to be that many. There have been 0 recalls. Check it out: http://edmunds.com/maintenance...ssan*

Ahh but yet here I am...lol

They are good little cars only incedents I know of is auto trans go south on these if they were not maintained properly over the years. P/S fluid leaks typically the suction line between the resivor and the pump on both engine set ups. small electrical blips with the rear lighting. other then that not much to worry about.
