looking into swapping ka24de into 91 d21 any info out there?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

i'm trying to help my brother get his truck running again, i just pulled out the ka24de from my 240, his motor died so we want to put it in truck! both are 5 speed, do i need to fab a drive shaft? can i use all the injection parts and intake from the truck ka? not sure where to start.

truck trans in rough shape, are they the same thing? didnt get started yet just doing a little rs before i dive in and have a truck stuck in my garage for a month

Early naps-z hardbody trucks used a fs5r30a transmission. Later (90-97) ka24e trucks used a fs5w71c transmission, the same as 240sx's.

4wd trucks used a very low 1st gear ratio (3.92), and slightly lower ratios on 2nd-5th as compared to the 240sx model, (4th gear on all is 1:1). 2wd truck model has 3.2? 1st gear.

I have also read about the shifter locations maybe being different, but you could easily corroborate this since you have both of them right there.

Driveshaft length might be an issue, but it shouldn't be more than 100-150 dollars or so to have it shortened if necessary.

i took on this same type of project in a 86 d21 but with sr swap instead of ka what i would personally say is be prepared to swap everything and be ready for the custom driveshaft i had to get one also had to swap the harnesses im just going to say be prepared for a lot of customization lol

still not sure about wires seems like the d21 chassis harness engine harness are together do i need to open it up and separate to splice in the DE ? cant find any straight answers on where to start. maybe i need all the fuse and relay boxes from the 240 ?

ok so the motor is in ,truck mounts, custom oil pan 240 flange d21 sump, no problem. now trying to figure out the rat nest in the truck to hook up to the 240de, cant be that bad? is it? 93 240sx de in a 91 d21. Thanks for all the help on my sr swap nico club. seems like this truck swap is alot more work!!

does anyone know what wires i need to hookup on the de side because i get no spark and i have power to the coil, checked all of my grounds, ecu is powered up, getting fuel ,just cant figure out why no spark. i checked the s13 fsm did not help. i can seem to find what i'm looking for been searching for 2 hours

did you try using the truck wiring harness on the de they are both obd1 but you will have to change some of it example would be the maf. is in different place but you could make that work?

i didnt even think about that. do you think it will work ? i have not touched the truck in weeks! still need to get her running asap. any help is greatly appreciated

thats how i put my 98 h22 in my 88 prelude i drive it but thats honda and this is a nissan . please let me know if it works because i'll be doing the swap soon as i find a motor i can aford. as for oil pan why not a frontier oil pan its a ka24de with a rear stump pan .i liked to see the plug that gos to a obd1 truck ecu and a obd1 240 ecu if they are the same and some of the wires are in different places you could change the pins out
