I currently drive a accord, nice fast clean car but its lacking. It has lots of power and pull but its not that car i want. I was looking into a skyline and some of you might have seen that thread, and a skyline is the car I want to end up with eventually but right now being in trade school (to become an automotive mechanic) I'm too poor to own one.

My plans for a 240sx would be build up the basics over the next few months (CAI, headers, lower it, exhaust small stuff like that) and would like to go with boso pipes :couch:

After I finish school I'd like to turbo and build up the internals and try to turn it into something nice when I can afford to spend that kinda money. And once I finish my trades and get out into the work force for real, I'd turn it into a project car and drop a V8 down into it just for the fun of the project.

Any advice or things I should know? Feel free to call me out on being stupid, I'm not use to this import deal, my accord is the only importish thing ive ever had. I grew up around muscle cars and big trucks.

thanks in advance

Welcome to the forums! Since it's a rather old car, you might want to look for rust. Particular areas are the wheel well areas, and strut towers. If it has a wing, it most likely has rust there too. On a cold start up, listen for a rattle coming from the front of the engine area. That's most likely the timing chain guide and you can eliminate it. Check the oil and see if there are any maintenance logs on it.

A few stickies you might want to peek at:

Yeah my first ride was a 1994 chev pick up with a 8 intch lift and 3 intch body lift sitting on 41'' tires, far from street legal but no one cares in my small town.

What year are most people buying these 240sx's? There are 3 for sale around here, a 91, 92, and 94 convertable.

More specifically it means something like "late model". Its used to describe lots of different cars. For an s13 it refers to a 95 to 98 180sx. For an s14 it refers to a 97-98.

You'll also see zenki and chuki. They mean early and mid model respectively.

The majority of the time when someone uses the term "kouki" in the world of 240's they are referring to the 97-98 models.

Your avatar says, "302HP" and you stated N/A.
Have you dyno'd your car? Pictures? Mod's list on the car?

Car looks stock besides some headlights...

Ok as you can tell I was loaded. I was so drunk my girlfriend convinced me I had to go to bed because posting on a car fourm while drunk is the same as drinking and driving.

I have no idea what I was talking about with a "turbi", what I took off for winter was a CAI, and put a SIR on. The car (When its summer) has CAI, bored throttle body, ported intake, bored and stroked to a 3.2l, TL-S cams, richi J pipe, 2.25 cat back, and its tuned. The car had 255 hp stock, its a V6. Getting it to 300whp wasn't a huge deal and most people make it pretty easy with that motor.

Two reasons, the car is low and has amazing handling as is, and I dont drive the car hard. It's my daily driver. I do have a set of tein SS that I plan on putting on this summer, and I had 17'' wheels but sold them come winter and im in the market for new ones. Most of what has been done to this car wasn't done by me. I'm new to this import thing and its a long ways off from the old muscle cars I'm use to. Honestly I've butchered with the little I've tried to do myself and I'm putting it into long term storage and looking into either a skyline(Which I'd leave stock) or a 240SX to toy with and try to learn more about these kinda cars.
