Hey all!

I'm looking into (hopefully) getting a 300ZX TT at some point, preferably not too far off in the future. I saw one on Craigslist that looked pretty nice. Its a '92 5-speed manual in white with a leather interior. Description reads:

[quote]California car no rust with many aftermarket upgrades! Viper alarm, full turbo back 3"stainless exhaust, cold air intake, turbo timer, manual boost controller, boost gauge, aluminum drive shaft, upgraded wheels, aftermarket head unit, crank pulley, new stage 2 clutch, HID lights, new battery and more! Over $7,000 in new parts! Approx (340- 350 hp)!
Leather seats, 4 wheel steering, t-tops, auto climate control, 350z premium wheels, bode sound system, 5 speed manual transmission, brand new stage 2 clutch (less than 200 miles on clutch)

I also have some parts I have yet to install that are included. New antenna, silicone hoses, comes with a car cover.

Note: This car needs a little tlc, I don't have time to work on it. Its running a bit rich and needs a tune and tune up. There is a cosmetic crack in the front bumper
[/quote}

The car looks good from what I can tell, but there are no odometer pictures (seller says 100K). The seller also posted a picture of the timing belt, pulleys, etc. and I wanted to see if you guys had any input on that, i.e. if the belt is looking good, if the pulleys are okay, or if anything under the hood looks a bit shady. Here's the photo:

Thanks!

I would hesitate to buy someone else's project. The fact that the timing covers are all off I see as a warning sign. They either forgot you had to put them on before the water pipes or they have had it apart so often they got tired of taking it off. They are guessing on the Hp unless they have a dyno sheet to back it up and if there is no dyno sheet there was no "tuning". I hate to be that guy but for $6k you can have a decent driver 350Z that's a lot less trouble and a lot easier to work on.

Total agreement, the lack of fan shroud also is a warning of probable cooling issues which is common enough, and suspect in a car that's not been put together correctly. And itlooks like some sort of PCV bypass done as well, hope they knew what they were doing. Plenty of other small things to nitpick that really don't add up to more than agreement that for $6K, the 350Z is a better car, and also that you should be able to get a better Z32TT than this for $6K.
Where are you located? Adding this info in your profile helps others near you with searches, parts, shipping cost estimates, local info, etc...

Yeah, have noticed these guys for their awesome selection of SUPER-clean rhd imports, especially the GTR's.
Pretty spendy though, they def aren't the "budget" choice...
