So I finally bit the bullet and decided to switch out my fuel injectors on my 1990 300zx.

I've decided to go with the new style (phase 2) injectors and have purchased the adaptor kit from Z1 - https://www.z1motorsports.com/fuel-syst ... -3348.html

Can anyone point me to a good "how to" for this project? Would like to avoid a plenum pull if at all possible, but if not, so be it.

Thanks!

Doing some more research, I've decided to just do the plenum pull version that is described here - http://twinturbo.net/ttnettech/plenum/plenum.aspx

I will take the opportunity to do a few other fixes including replacing the valve cover gaskets while I'm in there.

Still looking for any advice from those who have been there.

It's pretty simple. Remove the old, install the adapters and the new injectors. be sure to lube your O rings and careful not to pinch any of them. Removing old injectors from the rail can be a real pita, much easier if you take the rail off.

You also should have a Dremel ready. you need to take a good bit off the plenum on the passenger side for injector clip clearance. I'll attempt to post some pics of this as my top end is already apart and I've already done the conversion.

I do have a dremel, but what kind of head did you use on it?

I do not recommend the dremel method, to each their own.

This is not the Dremel method.... when you do the swap to the new style injector the conector will not fit under the plenum properly and will not allow it to seal. I used a carbide attachment, but you can use the standard sanding drums they just take some additional time.

I got this from a good google search to show what I mean.

I also found it easier to plug in your injectors before bolting down the upper plenum

So it is just the one spot that needs to be shaved down some?

It's been a while I think I spun the injector around the other way, I may have still had to do a bit of shaving, forgot about that part, traumatic memories of the Z32 get fuzzy.

yes, that was the only spot i used my dremel however your plemum could have extra casting elsewhere. plugging in the injector before you bolt on your plenum should show you where to dremel if you need more clearance.
