Hi All

Just a few odds and ends that I'll need to get her running, if anyone can point me to a site for any of this I'd appreciate it.

Background:
1990 240SX KA24E

* straight, steel driveshaft.

* header, prefer stainless.

* Engine rebuild gasket set.

* The little rubber boots that go over all the connectors on the engine wiring harness (mine are all decaying)

Thanks in advance for the help!

autozone? oreilly's? any local auto parts stores around you would have the engine rebuild kit, the stainless headers, umm egay?? hotshot ones? kinda pricey though. the steel dirveshaft, umm stock factory form, i would check local junkyards, or you can call up shaftmasters and have one custom "one-piece" made for alittle under $400. not bad i would get aluminum though. the littel rubber things :gotme , im fortuante enough to not be in that dilemma. hope my info helps. good luck with the search.

Thanks Costa_Rican13 - Shaftmasters has the driveshaft I need for $300!

laxands13 - I looked at Wiring Specialties site but noticed that even their brand new harnesses don't have any boots or protection between the connector and the wires. It's a small thing but leaving the back side of the connector open like that is an invitation for grit and grime to work it's way into the conector and corrode the contacts. If I can't find the little booties I'll use the self forming silicon tape. I was hoping someone would say 'you can buy them by the bag of 25 from xxx'

Headers from eBay - not a fun thought. It's so easy to get headers wrong and end up with an exhaust that doesn't sit where it was supposed to.

For the driveshaft you could always try Z1 motorsports. I paid $268 for mine, and since they're in Georgia it came over night with standard shipping. I also got my gasket set there. I don't know if they have the ka set though

OK, good suggestions, please keep them coming, here's what I've found...

Megan Racing - no headers for a KA24E

DC Sports - maybe, the site doesn't work with Firefox so I can't get details or prices. I ususally don't buy from sites that won't work with my browser.

enjukuracing - no headers for a KA24E

jgy customs - nope

Maybe I need to look for used, it doesn't look like anyone makes them anymore.

That's an interesting comment Hoffman, I think I'll look into what I'll gain before I spend. I may have been "assuming" that headers would help more than they actually will.

Thanks!

I have a hot shot or ebay header for sale from my sohc.

I used it about 2 years, then the EGR cracked off and I welded it up. Other then that its in good shape and it fits well. I'll let it go cheap since its pretty old.

For the rubber boots, your best off getting high quality 3m/scotch brand electrical tape and re wrapping your harness. I also have a wire tucked ka harness as well.

Heck I have my blown sohc with every thing, ecu, accessories intake wtc etc.

For a engine rebuild kit, if your staying naturally aspirated check local parts stores, ebay etc etc, as long as its felpro its good. If you might boost your sohc later I would get a OEM nissan kit, as the HG is a little better. But just check nico sponsors for gasket kits, it makes it so much easier having every gasket available.

If the Z1 in Georgia is a branch of the Z1 in Florida, I would recommended to stay away. A close friend of mine had major problems with them. They made stupid mistakes (the ecu tune sucked, they put a stock rod in the engine, even though the other five were forged, they put a rod cap on backwords on the different engine build, and so on. All of those mistakes were on my friends car, alone.) It was fast when the car ran, but it lived in their shop due to constant visits for almost nine months. They blew up two or three motors. they paid for all of it, but he ended up having his car trucked to someone in Jacksonville. (from Gainesville). But that's me. I drive a 240sx, so what do I know about z1? :chuckle:

However, I'm sure the Ga Z1 could be good. (different staff)

I just realized there is an ad for Z1 above my screen as I'm typing this . . . :ohno:

i don't know if you've found some headers yet, if you're still hoping to buy some, but ilovebodykits(dot)com has some for the ka24e, are they carb approved? fck if i know.
