Greetings all,

I'm actually a VW owner but I'm looking at getting a birthday gift for my girlfriend. She has a 91 240SX and has been wanting an LSD for a while so with that in mind, what would be your recommendations? From what little searching I've done, a OBX 1-way would be a good option so long as the gears are re-built. I would like to just get her a quality LSD right off the shelf but the OBX route seems to be more cost efficient. Please excuse my noobish question, just looking for some advice. Thanks. :)

They're not a great unit, honestly - for what you'd spend for professional installation (required), you may as well buy a real diff.

The J30 diff is inexpensive and a good swap. Make sure you grab the axles as well.

Here's some great articles on the topic - http://www.240sxtech.com/ Scroll down to Transmission and Drivetrain (right side of the page).

Welcome aboard!

To be honest J30 diff is great. I did that to my 91 240 and all i had to change was the back cover... didnt need axles

JGY sells a friction type LSD, its basically two square blocks that are spring loaded and hold the two axles together. I am using one in my project s13, I have only put maybe 20 miles on it since I got it running but it works well so far. They aren't too expensive, and the install was fairly straightforward.

The J30 diff is a good option, but may have a lot of miles when its pulled from the donor car and you won't be sure how long its going to last.
