I just bought a CA18DE from an 88 Pulsar SE. I plan on putting it into my B12 wagon AWd. I'm lookin for some info, if anyone has any, on the wiring. It looks like the engine harnesses plug in in some places, the alternator harness area and the positive side of the battery. I've been getting wiring diagrams together, but I just need some more info. I've heard that a CA16DE harness is better to use if you go DET later, and I know of one in a scrap yard, where I got this CA18DE from. I got the harness, MAF, and all asociated wiring to the ECU, plus the ECU. I also got everything that was attached to the motor, all motor mounts, etc. Anyone know what chassis the CA18DET came in, in the FWD variaton? If I need to get a CA18DET transmission or engine and transmission I'd like to know what ratio rear end I'll have to be getting. I am fairly informed as far as putting a motor in and such, but I just need some help on the electrical end, and what I should use. Also, the Pulsar was an automatic, so the wiring harness is from an automatic, but the CA16DE that I can get is a manual. I look forward to burrying my 8,000 RPM tach in my B12 soon...Thanks everyone in advance.

I've got a B12 wagon as well, but I still haven't gotten my hands on an AWD version. It appears to be in fine condition. Where'd you get the roof rack?

You may have luck with the AWD CA transmission. Talk to Dee for the harness work.

The roof rack came on the car, I think it was a factory option. I'm kicking myself in the foot because there was a 4wd stanza at the pick'n'pull a couple months back, I wanted to pull the transmission but when I got back the car was gone!! I was so angry. I would have to change out the rear diff though too, seeing as the ratios would be diffrent.

Unfortunately, the swap you're trying to take on requires some electrical know-how, especially someone familiar with Nissan color codes. I'm probably the only fool that has take a complete pulsar's harness (chasis and engine) and fuse them into my B12 sentra (Not a cake walk), but I will never go this route again. Since your car is a late model B12, it may be a bit simpler to because these are fuel injected and my B12 was carbureted. If you decide to use a CA16/18DE's engine harness, you will need to have your computer remapped by JWT or someone competent enough to take on this task.

As for a motor, putting a CA18DE in your car will give it life, but it's just not worth the headache for the amount of powere you'll gain because you still need an AWD gearbox. Now, the CA18DET is what will go best because you can get it in an AWD version which comes out of the nissan bluebird SSS attessa (pre-1991) which is equivalent to USDM 1990-1992 nissan stanzas. It can be done if you're willing to spend the money and have the time.

Thanks for your reply Dee,I've got the engine harness out of the car, but not the main harness. I do have one issue that maybe you can help me with: What does the Bluebird SSS with the CA18DET have for a final drive ratio? Reason I ask is my car has a 3.7:1 and I've thought about getting a stanza transmission which has a 4.47:1 or something like that, but it would be really agressive. I've also found that the Sentra and the Stanza use the same imput for the transfercase, and use the same housing, so it should bolt up to the CA20e's transmission. Next problem is finding one. I've found several CA18DET's with AWD MT's, but the ratio still remains a mystery. Any idea what the chassis code of the CA18DET powered stanza is? Thanks for your help.

The gearing ratio is something I don't know off-hand, but the chasis # for is RNU13.
