I normally wouldn't do this...but I do know that some of you have some pretty good connections with dealers and others who often have sets of takeoff wheels.

I need new tires, and I'm tempted to go ahead and make the jump to 18" wheels while I'm at it. Unfortunately, I don't like many of the designs out there.

I *do* love my wheels. That's where you guys come in. I like them so much that I'd love to have them in 18".

Does anyone have any good connections to get a good deal on a set of q45., m45, or even fx35 chrome 18" wheels? I only need the wheels, as the tires that come with those wheels are too tall for my application.

I did write an email to the guy with the chrome fx35 18s and am awaiting a response. Those were still more than I wanted to spend, however.

Thanks,

John

If you're not dead set on chrome, I have some from a 04 Maxima SE available. 3800 miles on them when I got them a couple of months ago.

I'll post a pic later if you're interested.

No thanks on the pie pans Wes..

JT - if I get the 18s, I'd probably sell the ones that I have now. Of course, based on what I'm hearing (ride quality-wise) from other folks with my suspension setup, I'm not sure I want to get 18s after all now...

But they look so damned good! Decisions decisions..

Thanks for the reassurance Fred! This question of going to 18s always comes up when it's time to buy new tires.

Agreed..

You can get kickass 17in tires for under $100, and most 18in tires are well over $150..

Under most circumstances, that would be true. But cheaper tires in the 18" size was part of my motivation for wanting to upgrade.

In their infinite wisdom, Nissan/Infiniti equipped our cars with 17x7 wheels. The 7" wheel width severely limits the selection of tires we can choose (especially all-seasons) in the 17" size. My stock size is 225/50/17. There aren't that many tires in that size, and most of them are pretty expensive. There also aren't many tires of comparable diameter that will work. 235/45/17 would be a good match, but it's out of spec (requires at least 7.5" width).

The 18" tires I was going to buy were about ~$30-40 cheaper than the 17" tires I currently have on order (backorder )

It might be a shamethat your tieres are expensive but you can buy a lot of tires for the price of 18 inch wheels.

And not upset your current perfect set-up.

Fred..
