I wanting to switch to a q45 3.54:1 ratio diff in my 240, or at least swap the ring and pinion. I know its been done before I talked to Brad D on ka-t.org and he did himself. My only concern is I cannot not find a definite answer to with q45's came with the r200 diff. I've read that some come with the r230 and some with the r200.

If you guys could please help I would appreciate it.

btw if anyone has a r200 Q45 ring and pinion for sale I'm looking for that or a whole 3.54 pumpkin.

Remember the Y33 and G50 diffs are different! Y33 used the 5 bolt with 3.69 gears, similar to the Z32 N/A (in fact identical) except with 3.69 instead of 4.08. That said Y33 guys swap the 408 as a direct swap.

G50 uses an R200 however it uses the 6 bolt flanges.. Its like a combination of the R200 and R230, its kind of a goofy diff... its got the smaller case but the the beefy gears and output flanges....

I would be looking for the r200 with the 6 bolt flanges, I believe the 5 bolt is an r230 and does not swap into my s13.

So what your telling me is that I need a G50 pumpkin then? I was told that a 97-01 diff is the one I should look for.

btw I'm don't own a q45 I'm just tired of driving a turbo car with a 4.083:1 final drive, it sucks. So I want to swap my 240's final drive with a q45's. A 4.083 ratio is good for a NA car, but terriable for a turbo

The 97-01 Y33 has the 5 bolt R200 with 3.69... G50 90-96 has 6 bolt R200 (goofy diff) with 3.54... The Y33 diff would go in the same way a 300ZX n/a diff would go in (im not sure if people put 300ZX n/a diffs into 240s). Q45 never came with the R230.... You could run N/A Z axles with a Y33 Diff and if you have N/A rear spindles for rear Z brakes the splines will match up. The G50 uses bigger ones (like the twin turbo Z) so youd have to use the Q rear spindles and axles, and thats assuming it bolts to the chassis.

Im really babbling here but I think we're getting somewhere.. Basically this is what it comes down to... Anything that is G50 related is close to the twin turbo Z, anything thats Y33 related is closer to the N/A Z.... Doesnt use many of the super beefy parts that the twin turbo Z/G50 used...

ok, I gotcha now, the G50 is the one with the huge input flange from the driveshaft, it is a goofy diff and isn't the one I'm looking for, since the TTZ doesn't work in the 240, then the G50 ring and pinion won't work. I need the newer one, the Y33 for sure, regardless of the output shafts. Even if it does have a 3.69 ratio thats much better then a 3.54 one.

Thanks for the help so far.

btw FarFetched I sent you an email about the diff.
