Hello,
I'm new around here. So hi.
I have a 2010 Altima coupe 2.5s non bose for a year now and it's time to start doing some upgrades.
First thing I would like to do is upgrade the audio, and I'm looking for some help getting started.

I'm planning to replace the head unit with a Kenwood DDX9902S or DDX9702S, so I know I'll need a dash kit, and some extra wiring stuff to keep steering wheel controls, and antenna.

But after that I'm lost. New to car audio and it seems to get complex fast.

I would like to upgrade the stock speakers, and add a sub. So I know I'll need an amp.
But the part that really gets me lost is what is the current speaker setup in the car? and what should I replace them with size wise. I was using crutchfield as a reference, and it seems pretty strait forward for the back deck 6x9's and the doors 6 1/2's but the dash speakers are getting me lost. Are they really 3 1/2's and why does it say only those kickers fit?
And for the sub I'm looking at a second hand JL Audio CS110-WXv2.

So this leads me to how big of an amp? and how many channels? I know these last questions will all depend on the speaker arrangement.

Not looking to get carried away, just something i can enjoy while on my drive to and from work.

Thanks.

I haven't messed with the dash speakers yet, so I can't help you there. But I can shed some light on your sub/amp question.

I looked up the specs on the sub. It's rated for 200 watts RMS at 4 ohms. So, you should look for a sub that puts out similar specs.

Since you are only going with one sub, you can get a mono amp (1 channel). Here is a JL Amp that would fit your needs http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136JX2501/ ... l?tp=35834. Of course there are many other options out there. A lot of times amps are described by their highest RMS output (typically at 1 or 2 ohm), so just make sure you are looking at the power output at 4 ohms.

If you are also planning on powering your door OR rear speakers with an amp, you can get a 4 channel amp and bridge 2 of the channels to give you the power needed to drive your sub. Here is an example: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13699401/J ... l?tp=35782. This amp would give you 70 watts RMS for one set of speakers, and 200 watts RMS for your sub.

You could also get a 5 channel amp and power your door and rear speakers as well as your amp. Or, you could get a 4 channel amp for the interior speakers and separate mono amp for your sub. Tons of options. Just match the RMS at the correct resistance (ohm).
