1. Which turbo kit do you want?

2. Internal wastegates suck.

3. The wheels you want are heavy bricks and will take away from performance. The look is obviously personal taste. 18's are a good choice. If your not going to track your car look into 19's for better style. Your tire sizes are too small for forced induction. Look for a minimum of 255 F and a 295 R for tire width. Your going to need it.

4.HKS shocks.... overpriced. There are better choices for less money. Look at BC Racing.

5. Short shifter isn't needed and a waste of money.

6. A wing is your personal choice. I personally don't like your choices.

7. You need to address engine managment and tuning. The TurboXS UTEC is a good choice.

8. Your going to blow your motor to peices with a turbo kit eventually. Make sure you have enough money to build a forged motor and have it put in.

9. Depending on how much power you want you may have to look into larger injectors than the kit supplies and a return fuel system.

10. If your going to lower your car with coilovers you will likely need camber arms for the front and camber arms and SPC toe bolts in the rear to correct your alignment.

11. A wing without a body kit looks really bad.

there is nothign wrong with internal wasetgates, you rarely see a Z32 with anything but internal wastegates, my 300 whp 240z uses internal wastegate and does not have a boost creep problem, my 315 whp z31 uses an internal wastegate and has no boost creep issues, unless you are running low boost with a large turbo you should have no trouble with an internal wastegate

I have no experience with the utec and know very little about it, but a managment system with knock sensor and lots of dyno tuning will ensure a long life fo your motor so long as you don't get greedy, 400 whp is aobut tops for the stock bottom end and thats pushing it

If given a choice I would take an external wastegate any day over an internal one.

The knock sensor or the tune has nothing to do with bending connecting rods. I know one person who has kept together a boosted VQ35DE motor, and a long list of people who are on their second motors. The stock connecting rods are going to give out. There is no way around it.

A supercharger is a different story. They don't build tourque like a turbo motor does.

The OP didn't say how much power he wanted, but I imagine it's 360-380whp???

Wing looks horrible and rice-like - doesnt flow the the body design at all. There are much nicer looking wings that are color matched and flow better with the styling of the Z.

What tires are you putting on the new wheels?

sure it does, the rods don't just bend on their own, it's detonation that bends them, or exceding their limits

360 whp from everything I've found should be safe if tuned properly with propper knock detection and timing retard and boost cut, now if you go and run stupid high boost from a big fatty turbo you might be able to bend one on compression alone, most kits are sized conservetively enough they should be safe

with megasquirt you have fully programable fuel and timing maps with available map switching, knock control, timing retard, boost cut etc, I'm sure some of the more expensive systems offer the same feathures, the stand alones I'm sure are a bit milited

the problem is boost is addictive and it's just too easy to run just a little more boost till something gives way

in the end the best,e asiest way to build a 500 hp motor is to build a 500 hp motor build in the saftey margin, if you run on the fringe of saftey you can't be suprised when the net snaps

What I'm looking for out of the car is about 450-500+ HP or so...As well as having the hp and tq I wanna have a good looking car . The turbo kit I was looking at on the site I listed was the second one. The APS Single. For tires I think I'm planing on putting some low-pro tires or if I can afford it possibly some performance tires. As far as rebuilding my motor.... I will have too for the fact of what I'm looking at for over all performance. And if I rebuild it now it'll save me in the long run when putting on my turbo etc. As far as a waste gate goes, I'm not 100% on that or anything. But thanks again for all your help once again and if you have further info feel free to tell me and give me things to add or take away and look for as well.

If your considering a motor build I would go with a Greddy TT kit. It's the best kit out there. The APS single is a poor design which relies on a scavenge pump to return oil from the turbo to the motor. The seals go all the time on the turbo's right after the pump fails. APS customer service and finding pats is very difficult sometimes.

I run the Greddy setup and I am very happy with it. It spools up faster than any single and you can make up to approx 700hp on 93 octane.

Your going to need a set of bigger injectors than come with the Greddy. Sell them off and get a set of Deatschwerks 600 injectors. Get rid of the Greddy E-manage Blue and get a UTEC for an ECU.

Get a set of Eagle rods, and a set of forged pistons for your build. Get a set of turbo cams a s well with JWT springs and retainers and you can rev to 7300 RPM with a revup lower manifold.

Get a set of HKS headgaskets, and don't sleave the motor no matter what other people tell you. Get ARP hardware and ARP L19 head studs.

Gert the Greddy Evo TT exhaust which is dual 2.75".

Ok well I've looked over the Tips and advised suggestions you've given to me and I've managed to come up with a revised list hopefully to my benefit. As far as the wheels go and why I didn't change them is because I like them and there is really only 1 or 2 other types of wheels I really like... Whats wrong with getting a block sleeved? granted its probably only necessary for high horsepower apps. Seems like reinforcement wouldn't hurt.

if this car is an 03-26 with the single intake on the manifold you only need one bov, they are to be mounted betweent he i/c and the tb, one tb = one bov

For some reason on the VQ35DE motor the sleeves eventually fail to seal the cylinder. Why? No one has any idea why. One reason of thinking is the sleeves sink, and another is the dissimilar metals contract and expand at different amounts causing the sleeve to pull away from the head causing the HG to fail..

No one is sleeving the VQ motor anymore.

It has also been proven time and time again that 600whp is not an issue with the stock block. So the current though is not to sleeve.

I agree here. Metals don't fatigue from compressive loads. They can from tensile loads though. But tensile loads don't change by adding boost. Only from additional RPM (for a given set of pistons and rods). As such, it would require that the instantaneous peak load on the rod would have to be enough to cause a rod to bend. Not boost in that of itself. Sure, there can be fluctuations in peak loads, but any safe level of boost and decent tuning would keep the peak loads under the threshold as the range of fluctuation should be minor. However, detonation, is capable of emitting instantaneous energy (sound, pressure, and/or heat) on the order of up to 10 times that of a normal combustion event. If one were on edge of the rods' threshold and even a small amount of detonation occurred, it could potentially bend a rod very quickly. Especially with turbocharging as ambient conditions have a much more profound effect on boost than it would with a supercharger. Considering the VQ has a fairly high compression ratio, its not a very friendly environment for boost. Especially with the crap for fuel we have these days. Add in the multiple variables the cam phase timing introduces (which may induce variable dynamic compression) and tuning it becomes vastly more difficult than calculating fuel loads and the # of degrees timing retard per psi of boost). Especially as few tuners will ever take the time or have the resources to test under all the potential ambient conditions that it could be operated in...

As for the internal vs external wastegate issue, I lean towards external. They have less limitation in flow. Thus, less likely to see boost creep. Not to mention, most turbos with internal wastegates have little attention put on keeping the airflow smooth as it enters the downpipe. Some do, but generally, its still not as ideal as an external wastegate as implementation of the wastegate itself is the responsibility of the person designing the kit. I don't think the reliability is as much of an issue. Internal gates are fairly reliable and we can bring up the Deltagate is anyone wants to argue that externals are inherently more reliable.

I don't have two BOV's posted on the list that I currently have revised and posted upon the tread. And as stated in the turbo kit a BOV is not included, its an upgrade along with other things you can up grade.

I was also wondering on possibly a High Flow CAT. I've been told that I should get one but I'm not real sure. I've looked over some and found different ones but I'm not sure what one would best fit what I'm looking for in my car. So if you guys have any suggestions let me know.

Jet was the redone list a put together a little better according to the recommendations you had given to me? And is there anything else I'm missing that I possibly might wanna check into?

Thanks once again everyone for you're help!

Here is the link to my Cardomain page. My car build is complete and the list of mods is there. Have a look at what I've done and if you have any questions about my build go ahead and ask.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3083811

I wouldn't use hi flow cats. I would use 3" downpipes from SGP. I would also get a wastegate relocation kit from SGP. Removing the transmision without the relocated wastegates is a real pain in the @ss.

As far as clutches go I wouldn't use anything other than Carbonetics twin or triple carbon clutch with a lightweight flywheel and the 1350kg pressure plate.

The Greddy kit comes with dual TIAL 38mm wastegates. So you can take that off your list.

You need a dealer who can help you build this car and supply you with all these parts at cheap prices. The best I have dealt with so far is:

http://www.z1auto.com

Talk to Adam or Kwame over. There they are great guys and are truly helpful and honest. They have not let me down yet. I have been dealing wit them for about 4 years now. If it's not listed on their website they can get it for you if you ask.
