My 1995 Q45 had its front end damaged in an accident. I had the damage repaired, even though insurance totaled out my car due to age and value. Years ago I bought some ovoid hard plastic covers that fit over the headlights to prevent damage from rocks on the road. I cannot find them on the net. These were not the film covers I have seen advertised for $55.00. I think I paid about $40.00 around 2000 for them. May have gotten them via a dealer in Houston. These were damaged in the accident and the body repair shop threw them away before asking me what to do with them. Does anybody know where I can get a new pair?

Thanx from New Orleans

Get the 3M armoring. It is much superior to old hard lexan.

Used http://www.stongard.com as they used the 80 mil stuff where everyone else used thinner 14 mil.

Try http://www.invisiblemask.com/site.html as they may be the successor company.

Thanks for the lead.My Infiniti dealer quoted me $800 for the "deluxe" (complete) kit installed. Here in Phoenix, we suffer severe stone chipping. My '94 looked like it was machine-gunned with a pellet gun when I traded it. I don't want my 2005 Q45 to look like that after a year or two. It already has a few chips. I just had a new front bumper cover intalled, so now is the time to do it.

Has anyone here had one of these kits intalled"

Comments?

Thanks.

Go out to the 3M site and search for installers. Then ask where the installer gets the pattern. If there are any seams where the body has none, ask if they wil install an Invsisble Mask kit for you. $800 is a little high, but consistent with dealer labor rates. Find an independent that does nothing but that all day.

Thanks. I do want to make sure I get the thicker (and hopefully better) 3M stuff. Looks like I have to shop around some. I was hoping to keep cost around $500, but considering the cost shown on the second link you presented, that doesn't seem likely.

Geez, nothing I ever want to do to my Q is relatively inexpensive. Even replacing the high beams with high output bulbs is expensive. I did it for the cost of the bulbs on my '94 Q. The '05 is a hassle, and the dealer wants $130 per side, not including the bulbs, which I want to furnish anyway.

The pre-painted factory mudguards I want are $360 dealer installed. I suspect the car has to be put on a hoist and all 4 wheels removed to properly install them. I sure wish whoever ordered this car wasn't such a cheapskate, and had them installed at the factory.

Sigh.
