does anyone have these installed on a y33? i cant find any picshttp://www.weathertech.com/sto..._id=0

also does anyone have a wood steering wheel cover? like the hard plastic clip on kind, again havent been able to find a pic.

lastly, does anyone have info regarding shift knobs and boots for qs?

here is a picture of basically what i am trying to replicate

wood shift knob, half wood/ half leather steering wheel. on the steering wheel if there was a cap that looked like the one in that picture, that would be awesome, cause i dont really want to remove the stock steering wheel and air bag parts.

as for the shift knob im not really sure how they would install considering the stock one screws on, as opposed to most shift knobs threading on. i figure you could just leave the shift selector button thing pressed down all the time eliminating the need for a button.

if anybody else has any info or ideas on this id love to hear it

This might not be exactly what your looking for, but it fits the Y33. If not ask Falk since he can get some JDM stuff. By the way, that interior looks awsome. I wish I can get a shifter and a knob like that for my G50. Everyone with a Y33 should get those.

I wouldn't trade my Y33's shift knob for anything, the angle, and shape is an exact match for my palm with my elbow resting on the center arm rest.

That wheel however kicks aise. It's a Momo w/ airbag, not sure what car it came out of though, if you can figure out what it was OE in, then you can look for a used one. Personally, I prefer a leather wrapped wheel to wood. I like the side wind deflectors, although out here they're kinda pointless, not much rain, and I don't smoke.

Yea Falk, the shift is one of the the things that I'm in disagreement with you. I think the Y33 shifter knob is one of the ugliest, clunky shift knobs around. An eyesore. I've always think that a manual shifter with a leather boot is the best look. If you have to drive an auto car, I'd prefer a shifter that takes on those characteristics. As far as having my hand on the shifter, I drive with my hands on 9 & 3 o'clock. Don't you? I like the auto shifter in my wife's 330i. That's perfect. This one is very nice too.

Yeah, I pretty much drive with my thumbs hooked on the top two spokes which is more like 10 / 2 o'clock. But when I'm driving slowly, I rest my hand on it sometimes and I think it feels perfect. I've always had manual cars until the Q, but myself, I like the stock knob.

Your right. It does look a little cheezy. If it looks bad in the pic, you can bet your arse that it will look worse in person.

Amen! Steering wheels should be either all wood (with leather driving gloves) or all leather wrapped. To combine both is a Lexus affectation.

The wind deflectors are great for increased wind noise at speed.

So Falk, can you get those wood/leather G50 JDM President wheels? I like those. The leather on me wheel is in bad shape and I'm not looking forward to putting a Leather cover on my wheel. I was going to get the Wheelskins cover, which is nice, but it's still a cover. Let me know.

I'll look into it. Does anyone have any idea what that MOMO wheel came out of? I guess it may have come from a JDM Cima or Cedric GT....

Hey man, you might want to reconsider on this. From what I can tell that "actual vehicle shown" appears to be a G50 model and not a Y33. Most of the window visors you see on cars come from Japan, where if i'm not mistaken are OEM. But they're not cheap either. Something like $180. And Falk, I'm not sure which car that MOMO steering wheel came out of as the guy's description that's selling it only says it's Nissan

You are better off sending your stock steering wheel to get the wood and leather done here in the states.Someone posted a site that can do the same to your stock wheel for $450.00 I think. The ones in Japan go for about the same .......and thats just the auction price, tack on the fees and shipping and itll get expencive......FAST.

Ill look for some link so you can check them out.

The only one I could find ........$800.00

I wish I could find someone could just do the leather. The wood would just be a bonus. A new OEM wheel with Joe is $388.00. I don't know how much it would be to recover my wheel with leather, if I could even find someone to do it. The Wheelskins cover seems to be the most cost effective way. If I could find someone that would recover the wheel with leather for about $100-$150 I'd be set.

Ebay sellers with steering wheels do not provide clear close up pics of the steering wheels at least I have seen none. I would be interested in another steering wheel but the ones I have seen on ebay appear worn and the pics taken at a distance. I already own a worn one and want one that appears to be new or bearly worn. But I am open please let us see what you got for the money?

The one I got for 75 bucks also included my passengers side foglight. It is beautiful. It has some faint black stain marks on the side facing the windsheild (from grease or something), but thats nothing compared to the wheel that was in my car. My wheel was trashed on top totally. The part guy I deal with on ebay has about 9 part q's and he's the only dude I'd buy a used fuel pump from. I'll give you his name (because I dont need any other parts) for some advice on how to clean the grease on my wheel without damaging the leather (I'm scared). You will like life with your Q better if you tell him Justin from Wentzville sent you....Dude gets phat parts (alexlikeslife)Oh, I almost forgot, make sure you have a "tamper-proof torque bit" size 47 to remove the airbag. I am still waiting for my special order 47. I have not installed my wheel (perfect tan color match) yet as a result....I'll send you a pic if you want to see it. (IUPUI rules)

The Y33-style shift knob is definitely nice for resting your hand, or lifting a couple fingers to diddle with the radio/nav. My old Sentra had one like that (obviously with cheap plastic, sans wood).

The shape is not as pretty though.

My 2005 Q45 has the factory leather/wood steering wheel.I don't like it as much as the G50 full leather wheel. It looks like the wood is some sort of insert, and the edges seem slightly loose. I expect it to eventually begin to peel.

Too bad Infiniti added wood to the steering wheel, but left wood trim off of the nav surround.
