I'm looking a remote for my '01 Nissan PathfinderFCC ID KBRASTU10 Model/ A (NOT Model/ 01A). The same remote was usedon QX4s and other Nissans and Infinitis.

If you are parting out a Nissan/Infiniti, or replaced the factory alarm system,I'm interested in your remote.

I'm wondernig why the A appears to be more rare than the 01A. I'm seeing the 01A listed as appropriate for the 00-01 Pathfinder.

Weird.

I agree that the A is more uncommon than the 01A.

After much unsuccessful hunting on eBay and elsewhere, I stumbled into themat http://www.remote-superstore.com. There web site lists them asKBRASTU10 (A), not KBRASTU10 Model/ A which is what's on the fob, and thatmakes it hard for Google to find them.

Once more I have to apologize for resurrecting an ancient thread...

Chuck,
Do you know what the actual difference is between these two units, given that they have the same FCC ID? I've got an '01 with no remotes. Based on the production date I'm pretty sure about the ID I need being KBRASTU10, but not whether it's /A or /01A (or how important the distinction really is).
Thanks,
Caleb

I think there's nothing wrong with resurrecting an old thread if there's something to add to it.

I was told by a guy who sells remotes that the two are not interchangeable. I suspect they can have the same FCC ID because they have the same transmitter electronics, but different firmware (maybe different encryption scheme).

What's your production date? Let's see if we can find trucks that straddle and find out what they use. And the Nissan parts manual might help too.

I'll post my production date when I get home.

THIS thread seems to indicate that they are different enough that they're not interchangeable. I'll check my production date later, IIRC it's mid '00. Frustrating to me because I'm also listed in the A category rather than 01A. I did purchase an 01A on eBay right before realizing there were two options, so I'll know in a few days how if it's a showstopper.

Those are KBRASTU15 remotes, they don't apply to the topic at hand.

This went in the cracks. My production date is 9/00 and I use the A remote.

I'll go back and check my production date later. Mine definitely requires the /A remote as it turns out.

Anyone have updated recommendations on where to purchase remote and key??

Keys on ebay are different shape, not sure if a showstopper.

My key is H0564-R50002 per courtesy link. H0564-R50003 seems to be the key style selling on ebay.

pics are here:

Thanks, looking into the aftermarket arena for a keyfob or used on ebay so far.

Re: key, Ace Hardware said they can replicate the chipped key for about $80. Local dealer will do a non chipped key for about $12.

INFINITI branded KBRASTU10 Model/ A is Part Number: 28268-2W611 and Model/ 01A is 28268-2W612. Nissan branded / A is 28268-2W601/28268-2W602 for 01A. That should help you find one. I've got a 01 QX4 Production Date 08/00 and I just ordered a used A remote hopefully its the right one. I found a few new A remotes for $45-50 also.

You probably need the KBRASTU09 remote; try searching #28268-2W600 also.

thanks for the info!! Appreciate the pics as well, very informative. My remote has no designation after it. I found one on ebay for $49 shipped, supposedly New Old Stock with instructions to program (its Infiniti logo'd but same exact part no's). Also called a local locksmith and they will do chipped keys for $50!! Fingers crossed on the ebay find.

I’m wondering if the 4-button remote for the G20 would work. The back of those remotes show that they are a KBRASTU10 model A.
