and what do i know either right? im just a certified NASA track instructor, hold a few racing licenses, turned wrenches as a technician, and managed repair shops in my past.Dattebayo wrote:WTF am I talking about? I'm talking about seeing it all the time at the shop in my town. Kid learns to drive, clutch goes soon after. Used car. I guess I don't know anything tho, right?
I'm sure that just means it doesn't happen at all tho, right?Joe wrote:and what do i know either right? im just a certified NASA track instructor, hold a few racing licenses, turned wrenches as a technician, and managed repair shops in my past.
if you teach someone to drive a stick improperly, they will burn up a clutch. if you know what youre doing, they will be fine.
Clutch wear is what people seem to unfailingly mention when I talk about my hatred for automatics and preference for manuals (the irony of my own automatic is not lost on me). To that I say: I'd rather replace my clutch every year than deal with a SINGLE automatic transmission rebuild.Joe wrote:well dont scare the kid saying he WILL need a clutch in 5k miles cause thats a flat out f**king lie.

Why would his arm get tired?AZ89two4Tsx wrote:Those gen Civics have a weird shifter. It's on the dash. Pic for reference.
Mr1der, does your arm ever get tired?
Good point. I'm sure you would snap out of the habit though if the shifter was all the way up there. :PKlits562 wrote:I think your arm would get tired if you were the type of person who always drives with one hand on the shifter. That design would probably be more comfortable with someone who always has there hands on the wheels. It does look like a cool set up though I'd give it a shot before shooting it down.
