The 6 spd LSD transmissions mated to those are QR25's are pretty stout, surprised you are having issues. Honestly, just fixing the problem or replacing it with another would be your best bet. Not sure what your issues are, but they might be clutch related as well, not transmission related. As for engine stuff, it all depends on how crazy you want to get. It also depends on what state (and emissions laws there are) you live in. If in CA, your options are limited. If in a state with zero emissions, the sky's the limit, lol.

I own a boosted 2004 AUTO SE-R, so I know your pain and then some because of the transmission, but everything else is the same.

First and foremost, I hope that you don't have the stock header still on the car because they are known to damage your engine due to cat material breaking apart and scraping the cylinder walls.
Second, check your butterfly screws. They can come loose and get ingested into your engine.

Now, on to the power options.

It really depends on your pocket and your hp goals.
The most bang for your buck is to boost the QR and the threadstone kit is the one mostly used.

Another option is to build a high hp n/a QR, but to me that costs more than boosting for a very limited and capped out max hp.

Last, and the cheapest option is to do the simple bolt ons like SRI/CAI, Header and exhaust.

Keep in mind that the BEST tuning option out there for our cars is Uprev Osiris.

Also, DO NOT DO business with Trav. He is a known scam artist that will simply earn your trust, take your money and have your car in his shop for YEARS!!!

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Good luck.

I just grind going in and out of gear 1-4th gear so im pretty sure its a synchro issue. I had a guy look at it he said im better off getting a new transmission. If im hoping to get a vq35 is there a specific or better transmission i should get? Im also gonna purchase a clutch, will i need a different kind or the same type of clutch will be the same? (im thinking stage 3)

First thanks for the info man, this site has been the most helpful by far! Wow 4200 for a damn turbo kit -_- lol now i read somewhere its possible to bolt on and turbo? (not sure what bolt on means) At this point im gathering info and buying parts to hopefully try getting it all together at once, im pretty sure ima swap and go with boost since it seems like the proper way to do it. Wpuld i not need to upgrade my engine for boost though?

You don't have to upgrade your engine's internals to boost, but it is HIGHLY recommended. Especially if you have a high mileage engine.

Bolt ons and boost are two different things in my mind.
Bolt ons are things like cold air intake, exhaust, header.... etc. Basically things that are easy to 'bolt on' to give you a little extra hp.
Boost, well you know what that is.

Some turbo kits are 'easy' to 'bolt on' compared to others, maybe that is where bolt on and the turbo combine.

Be careful with your parts selection because that determine ease of installation later on.
For instance, you'll find treadstone, turbonectics and maybe some custom QR turbo parts out there and all of them don't mix well with each other.
Example, a turbonectics turbo manifold with a turbo on it would give you nightmares if you bought a treadstone down pipe.

And I'm telling you now, get treadstone everything. Their parts line up better and therefore fit better in the car.
