Can anyone help me out. I am looking for a competant shop in or around Richmond, VA. that can do the SR swap. I am not aware of anyone capable of this around here. Its pretty pathetic. Anyway, if someone knows of a shop or has taken theirs to a shop close by I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Hey. Thanks for the help. No I havent posted on this board in quite awhile. Do you work for JGY or have your swap done there? Where is Atkins, VA. too by the way.

I neither work for nor have had work done by JGY but I have communicated with them various times and they seem great, and professional. I've also NEVER heard anything bad about them. And as for Atkins....I'm not quite sure, sorry.

Edit: Eek, I just MapQuested them and they're way out in BFE it seems. Like way South West in the skinny part of VA down there.http://www.mapquest.com/maps/m...t+Map

I just checked and its about 5 hours from where I live. I would just assume take it to the beach then. Do you know of any reputable shops around VA Beach?

Same around here. If you have an old CRX or prelude you are straight. No one knows a damn thing about 240s or any other import for that matter. Anyway thanks for the help man.

No prob, try Googling it and looking around. No chance you could do the work yourself? What exactly are you looking to have done?

Nothing major. Just a straight swap, maybe add bigger injectors, fuel pump and LSD. I dont have the time, tools, or even know-how to attempt swapping out a motor. The only person around here that will even attempt it is a head mechanic of a local Nissan dealership but he has never worked on SR's before. Id prefer someone who has done it and knows what to look for. Its just amazing to me that even though SR swaps have blown up and are basically more common than ever, that Richmond still has not caught up to everyone else.

Atkins is exit 50 on I-81. I live in Roanoke and my exit is 143 off I-81. Should be a little over an hour from Roanoke. Takes me 3 hours to get to Richmond. As for JGY, I have spoken with Shaun on several occaisions and I am going to be getting my engine from them the first weekend in January. They have been very helpful in my long drawn out journey toward finally getting a new engine for my 240.

Thanks for all the feedback. JGY sounds like the most reputable that I have heard. The distance is kind of turning me off but I will keep all my options open.

i would suggest doing it yourself just because of the experience you gain. It's a fairly straightforward swap and as long as you have someone who can watch over your shoulder to prevent silly little screwups, you should be fine.

Stumpz.......you live in Chester? Im always over there off Ironbridge. What color is your 240....not sure Ive seen one with an SR20 driving around that area. Also, since you installed it yourself, where did you end up buying the motor? How much too if you dont mind me asking.....

I made a post somewhere about where i got my motor, it explains all the goodies in there. i think the thread is titled 'Where i got my sr20det' or something.

i think its about time for another VA meet...... or this summer or something, i didnt know we had this many VA members on here.

I was going to swap for the SR this summer too, and i was going to get JGY to do it, until i decided im a KA KindA guy.

there used to be Rosen motorsports in Richmond but they closed down last march.

Add another Richmond 240 enthusiast to the list. I picked up my '92 240 coupe a few weeks ago. Time for the mods to begin...

Also, if any of you know where I can find front fenders, bumper cover and driver side headlight assembly please let me know.

there's one in hopewell, but i don't know the name of it..one of my friends whose dad owns a shop says it's got a lot of imports, only thing that isn't cool, is it's not open on saturdays :/. chesterfield auto as well as circle auto are not the place to look for our cars :/. they RARELY have an 89..like never anything else..

Maybe sometime this summer we could arrange something,

As for parts and salvage yards. I know of a Nissan only salvage yard near Christiansburg, VA but that is a little bit out of your way. The best way is to go to do a google search for salvage or used parts. i don't recall the site but there are several sites that lets you search all salvage yards in a particular state. You sometimes have to hunt for a good price but usually you can find what you are looking for. Sorry I am at work and can't find the site right now.
