alright, I just completed pretty much the entire swap myself. i used a crossmember out of a laurel so i wouldn't have to use custom mounts. i've got everything running right except for my powersteering. I had a single cam KA in the car first so i couldn't use those lines, ended up grabbing a set of lines that came out of a '95 240. anyways, whenever i turn the wheel it's as if i don't even have a pump, also i can see the steering column grinding on the downpipe. actual shavings are coming off whenever i turn the wheels. does anyone know of a way i can either move the column over or something so i don't grid it and what might be my problem as to why it feels like i don't even have power steering.... Thanks, TQ

you cant move the colum but you can have a downpipe with a slight bend plumbed at any exhaust shop. shouldnt be too expensive.

Just grind a little off the top corners of the sleeve and a little off the side of the down pipe. The other option is to just let two of them be and the problem will work itself out. as for the steering, make sure that the lines are plumbed to the right spots, the tank(low pressure) to the pump, the pump to the rack(high pressure) and then the rack to the tank(low pressure). I belive that is the correct order to run them in.

Can anyone tell me how difficult it would be to setup the power steering for RHD. I don't know anything about it and i'm wondering if i'll be able to do it myself when i do my swap. Never really needed to know anything about power steering before so i never bothered. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure I have it connected correctly, it seems to be in the order you just said, plus the hoses are different sizes so they wouldn't match up any other way. but i tried to just grind it off but it seems like the part that is hitting on the column is one of the joints and it's pretty damn big, so i think that one might be out of the question....

When I get to the shop later today I will snap a few photos of what I did to the sleeve and the downpipe. I used a table grinder on the downpipe, less than a 1/8 of an inch and used an angle grinder on the sleeve to knock off the top corners. Works fine.

What engine are you guys talking about? I thought the RB26 was the only one with clearance issues...

thanks jonpowell, i'd appreciate those pictures...

i'm working on a RB20 install, the pipe that comes directly off of the turbo, not sure what it's called, but it then connects to the downpipe is basically in the way of my steering. i'm pretty sure most people go with the custom mounts but i was just too broke at the time and it was a lot easier for me to grab a crossmember since i was already in japan.

alright, once again i am completely lost...not like that's uncommon. but i just shaved off some metal from both the column and the downpipe, it still hits alittle, but i guess i'll let it do the rest itself. but i still don't have any sense of powersteering. i have the lines running to the pump, the pump to the tank, and the tank back to the lines. the belt is moving on it to. is there maybe a fuse i might have blown??? or is my pump maybe shot???? what do you guys think.....
