Anyone got a working fuel pump and FPCM for sale? Mine just went TU...one week after my extended warranty expired too! Don't have the budget for new after my last service and brake job.

Thanks,

Mike

I have a control module out of a 92Q. Should work if yours is a 94' but you may want to check further.

Used FPCU should work (inspect carefully), but buy the fuel pump new or rehabilitate by texasoil's instructions. See pictures under his boardname in Member's Rides.

FPCU usually don't go bad unless driven into the ground with a very bad fuel pump fo a long period of time.

What he said, and replacing the FPCU while trying to "milk a few more miles" out of a HUMMING pump will just kill another FPCU.

It seems really hard for some to grasp the concept that electronic speed controls [and sensors] are always KILLED by defective WORN OUT mechanical devices.

HVAC FAN MOTORS, Fuel Pump Controllers, Light bulb monitors, Seat/Steering position memory, windshield wipers, door locks, windows, sun roofs, Starter relays.

Actually my stoplight bulb monitor squatted when I tried running the fuel pump straight to ground (bypassing fpcu).

I'm not disagreeing with you, just find it odd that the stop lamp warning sensor malfunctioned as soon as I bypassed the fpcu.

I have a GOOD fpcu and pump out of a 1991 Q that I'm parting out if anyone needs one. The pump was replaced when the car had 138K miles at "infiniti of memphis" (car came with records), and the car has 179k right now.

Are you saying that I shouldn't try to get a used pump and used FPCM? My hope was that I could find a pump that wasn't humming, and a FPCM that wasn't fried and use those for now.

Mine was humming for a while, and now I get stalling and dificult starting. I just assumed the pump & FPCM was bad given my situation, but I know I at least need a better pump. I had a warranty thatwould cover the repair for $100 out of my pocket, but they would do it until the pump was deemed officially bad. Turns out it lived until a week past my warranty. :-(

I'd buy defrag's pump and my control unit (newer) if I were you.

If the pump has only 40K on it, there should still be a lot of life left.

Is your FPCM in decent shape? I estimate that I drove my car for a month with the humming pump. The shop told me it was humming and would

I've owned the car for 2 years, and replaced the filter once.

FPCM is a solid-state electronic device. It's not burned or anything and will work fine. I'll glady refund if you have a problem with it.

My car is an early '94 (January). Are these '91 components the same as the early '94 ones? It sounds like you are vouching for these parts being in good working order, the mileage is low enough on them it apprears.

Can you give me puirchase details please?

My e-mail at work is [email protected].

Thanks!

Thanks Drew. Please e-mail me purchase details and I'll compare with defrag's price to see which way to go. Again, [email protected].

I'm waiting on a response from whoever [email protected] is about the fuel pump + a rad fan, so if he doesn't get it, then i will let you get it for 60$ shipped.

Fuel pumps submerged in gasoline and fuel additives will look new externally forever! What you can't see is where the problem begins! I have used so many used pumps over the years with a lot of success but, when I get a used pump I always use the pump only from the FP assembly! I remove the pump from my old one and just swap pumps because my FP has had BG and ISO ran threw it so the pump is the only thing that most time needs to be replaced! If your not mechanically incline and are a heavy handed person don't do the swap and reverse wires or leave clamps lose or install parts backward! Replace fuel filter located on the bottom of pump assembly if it's dirty or dis-colored!

Yes, I'm going to buy the fuel pump for my friends '95 Q. I assume the '91 pump will fit in a '95. Has anyone had much success with aftermarket radiators? I found one on ebay for abount $200 shipped. I also see rebuilt radiators for about $100. If you saw this car you would be probably be very depressed ('95 Q with 165K) though the motor and transmission are in nicer shape then my '91.

Sounds like breaker is buying the pump. Can I still get your FPCU? How shall I pay?

$154 shipped. They carry CSF radiators with metal end tanks, which I installed on my last Q, and it pretty thoroughly rocked. Sustained 120mph for hours on a humid day and it ran great.

Robert,

You made a mistake in Paypalling me $80.00. I have no fuel pump or fan blade for sale. See if you can pull back the payment. I think you got me mixed up with Defrag...

Robert Breakstone just sent you money with PayPal.

I'm late for this one...I gotta keep up more!...and looks like you have already found a pump and controler. This place is such an incredible resource ! Without it we'd all probably be staring at the FSM thinking What ???... Huh ?...What tha...?? Anyway..if I have 3 fpcm's and some fuel pumps collecting dust in the garage if anybody needs them. One is from my 92 and has 135K on it.. it wasn't really noisy when I replaced it but it wasn't as quiet as the one I put in either..probably more of a project pump for someone. The one in there now had 15,000 miles and was used in racing apps from a supra. It was run without a controler but it is extemely quiet and works great. Then I picked up a pump and sending unit from a 2002 Q just because it was so cheap on ebay. Low miles wrecked car. I'm planning on trying it out on my 92 as the overal sending unit etc looks like it will work dimension wise. The reason being is that they wisely lowered the pump to the bottom of the sending unit so it stays submerged in gas even when your running on a low tank which I would think would keep the pump cooler and solve some life expectancy problems the earlier models have. I won't know until I pull mine out and compare ...and probably until I install it and see what the gas gauge does. If any one knows something about this swap that would save me the trouble I'd appreciate it if you would chime in. Otherwise I'll just let you know if it works. Either way I will have either the new pump (put in your sending unit) or the one in there now available if anyone is in need.

I think my pump is going. One time it had hard starting issues with stalling and stumbling. I haven't heard any excessive noise, but I'm guessing this is an early warning. Keep us posted on your late model FP retrofit and let me know how much you want for your old low mileage fuel pump. Thanks
