My wife and I are from the northeast (US) and hope to be M37x owners in the very near future. We are ready to pull the trigger on a one owner 2011 M37x with 8300 miles, Premium and Deluxe Touring packages, very clean in and out and remote starter. The price is at $40,500 and though it's a bit of a reach from our original price point we feel like it's a fair deal. Any thoughts on whether we should seek a lower price or pull the trigger? Course, we may be deciding very soon and hopefully have a picture or 2 to share.

Thanks,
Rick

PS: love the forum :)

please view auto trader nada etc to see what the car is worth
something that new with low mileage is a treasure in my opinion
that car may have been close to 60g last year when purchased but the only way to determine market is thru those web sites that list used car purchases
if u are happy and more importantly the wife is, you will enjoy the car
best of luck on the deal that is how i bought my 2008 m35x 2 years ago

Yeah, same as the Mazz mentioned. Shop the car's price and it's options on a few "market value" sites to get an idea of what the local listings are going for and compare.

But in my opinion, you can't go wrong. The car itself is a beauty. If I wasn't working over seas, i would have traded my M35 in last week for a Blk one owner listing down in Atl. It'll def. be my next car. Whether i keep my 35 or not. he he he. i'll probably get rid of my wife's Benz and give her my infiniti.

I bought my 2011 M37x new in July, 2010 and really love it. MSRP with the Premium and Deluxe Touring Packages was about $58,000. I negotiated to about $52,000. I don't know the value right now, but I have over 20,000 miles on it and it is still like new. I would definitely recommend your deal, assuming there is nothing major wrong. Why are they selling it?

We actually have an accepted offer of $40,000 (thanks to my dear wife  ) as of last night. Kind of an odd situation where it's a "private sale" by a BMW salesman and as we found out today it's a dealer owned car all of which has caused a little apprehension on our part ... just seems a little shady, hence the post. We’ve researched through all sites recommended above and though we have little idea about how much these cars are actually selling for we feel pretty comfortable with the purchase price based on our findings … and of course the “expert opinions” gathered here. :mike

BTW … we’re impressed by your negotiating skills as well :bowrofl:

The two are mutually exclusive. A private sale cannot be done on a dealer owned car. Without more explanation I would be apprehensive, especially considering the discount.

I hear that! From what I gather more and more dealers are using Craigslist etc. to sell their cars with various levels of unscrupulous behavior and we are proceeding as cautiously as we can. I understand it's a way for them to sidestep FTC consumer protection laws that pertain to dealers and some of the costs and / or obligations of keeping the car on their lot, but we're talking about a very young car here that should in all likelihood outlast the "point of no return" anyway.

We are looking to achieve a certain comfort level with the vehicle, the paper work and the seller. The seller has not been overbearing, we met at his house, he works for a local dealership (their name is on the Carfax report), he was willing to negotiate what we feel is at least a fair deal and did not balk at all when we said we wanted it inspected at a local Infiniti dealer (place of original sale and services to date) which we will do before we hand over any cash. We have already gone over the vehicle pretty thoroughly and will pay close attention to all paper work, especially the title which is currently en route to the seller.

As anxious as we are about getting a hold of one of these fine automobiles we are really trying to exercise as much restraint as possible. And though we’re pretty sure there will be other deals to be had, we also don’t want to pass on a good deal, or "throw the baby out with the bathwater" as they say … we’ll see how it goes from here. Appreciate all the feedback.

Could be a washed title, and the dealer knows it, so they sell it under an individual's name & don't risk losing their business license.

Or there has been a wreck which hasn't shown up on Carfax yet, but will within 30 days of you buying it. Again, via private party they avoid losing their license.
