-- The next thing on my list of things to do is the exhaust. Looking for something relatively quiet at idle & cruising speed, but throaty under throttle. So, any suggestions? Advice originating from experience is much appreciated! Thx, heres a cpl pix...

isn't that exactly to the letter what the OEM Q45 exhaust does?

-- Ha, sort of, yeah. This is the original, so it needs to be replaced anyway. Real rusty, kinda rattles, bunch of small leaks, not to mention the stock muffler looks like it was a piece of luggage in a past life. And I said relatively quiet at idle and cruising speed, so not factory quiet, but no extreme drone.

Give or take a small amount of work [94-96 needs a ~ 6" spliced in pipe section on pass side] any 90-96 Q oem exhaust will substitute.

Another reason to buy a junker and a wreck parts car or two.

Some members have reported getting these results by removing the resonator (aka "suitcase") under the trunk. As long as you go into this knowing that there aren't any substantial performance gains to be had and are concentrating on the sound...

I can tell you Thrush makes some mean mufflers. My dad has on on his 4.3 TBI V6 GMC Jimmy and many say it sounds like a V8. But there is some drone sadly.

Grab yourself a dual in dual out dynomax or something like that and replace the farthest rear muffler... You wont regret it!

I had the exact same setup on my car (2 resonators, 1 dual in dual out muff in the back) and it was very throaty with application of the throttle, but OEM quiet at idle and more importantly cruise.. You always think you want louder until its too loud..

My current setup is straight pipe all the way back to a dual in dual out muffler in the back... Its almost a little too loud on the highway, but turning the stereo volume to the right fixes that... :)

Luckily the farther a restriction is from exhaust port on engine the less material it is in power production.

Stebro had a set up for sale on eBay a while back. This will give you an idea of what to expect from an aftermarket product.

Here's what it looks and sounds like:

-- That looks awesome, probably pricey tho... Thx for the links lino. Couldn't really tell if they still produce the Q setup by looking at the websites. Hey is that white interior factory? If you ever part out and want to sell the interior lemme kno...

I believe at this point, lino has decided to just issue tickets (like at the deli counter) for the line of people waiting for his interior :)

Funny you should say that because I have been asked quite a bit and even by people who don't have a Q.
