Just wanted to see peoples opinions on the K&N Air intake on a 2001 qx4 ([url]http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=57-6011) . So far looks like it is for an 01 pathfinder but i am guessing it will work just fine on the qx4, anyone tried this yet? Also looking at doing the full exhaust system and wanted peoples opions on brands, size and what kind of performance increase they saw?

I will be doing a full exhaust within the next year, but theres no headers or cat back systems avail for the r50. You would need to do pipe work and throw on different muffler for cat back. Im getting custom headers and full exhaust from my one friends dad who owns a shop.

simple CAI is to reove your intake resonator and replace that paper filter with a K&N drop in, it workse very much the same without hte 300$ on top. a little digging and a 50 dollar filter goes a long way

I originally posted a while back the intake box mod for the 3.5l engine that i did, and it helped ALOT, it has no hesitation when you punch the gas like it did before, and the holes you cut shouldnt matter unless you drive with in water above your front bumper everyday. I also have the K&N drop in, and i honestly think i have the same performance gain as a CAI, if not better because when you drive on the highway air rushed into the space behind the fog light vent, acting like a small RAM air intake.

sounds good do you have a link to your post I will check it out. I live in AZ and there's no water to worry about! Any suggestion's on the exhaust system (headers...etc) I have seen some posted on here but don't see any commonly used one.

Those of you using a K&N filter are you getting any rich or lean codes? Have you pulled at least the two center plugs and checked them for excessive fouling as compared to your standard filter? How long do your plugs last compared to the standard filter?

Been using K&N drop in filter for years with no issues.
Two things that I think will help with these things: Don't over oil it after you clean it,
and secondly, after you oil it, leave it out in the open for 24 hours before putting it back in the car.
That last one is the key, I think.
As for plugs, I've only changed mine once, at 150,000 kms.
