It's doubtful they exist. The later VQ's use variable cam timing. I've never heard of any for the VQ, but at best, I'd think it would only exist for the exhaust cams, but I'd be inclined to say they do not exist for the VQ.

What are you planning to run for your engine management once you get a set of cams? I had some Jim Wolf cams in my old Sentra (S2's I think) and the idle was lumpy. Basically with an ecu retune it would have smoothed things out a little as well as gotten the most HP out of them. I mean, sure you are gaining a little but you are leaving just as much hp on the table at the same time. I can not say enough for engine managment tuning!

here's JWT

PART NUMBER: A3503-N00C2

THE JWT C2 PROFILE IS CONSIDERED A RACE GRIND AS ARE ALL OF OUR "C" SERIES CAMS AND IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE WITH JWT SPRINGS. THIS IS A DESIGN WE ARE EXTREMELY PROUD OF, AS IT IS A VERY TIGHT DURATION FOR THE LIFT AND REQUIRED AN EXTREMELY PRECISE PROFILE TO SAFELY MAKE THIS LIFT AND STILL STAY ON THE STOCK FOLLOWER DIAMETER. THE TIGHT DURATION AND HIGH LIFT ALLOW THE C2 TO PERFORM WELL AT MID TO HIGH RPM IN NATURALLY ASPERATED ENGINES AND YET THE C2 HAS SEEN OVER 800HP IN BOOSTED FORM!

PART DESCRIPTION: C-2 JWT CAMSHAFT SET VQ35DE 261 DEG. / .456" (11.58MM) LIFT RACE CAM SET FOR NA AND BOOSTED ENGINES

FITS:350Z, MAXIMA, PATHFINDER, G35, ALTIMA 2002+, MAXIMA 2002+, MURANO, FX35,

ENGINES:VQ35DE

PRICE: $1,198.00

PART NUMBER: A3503-N00S1

260 DEG DUR. / .428"(10.9MM) LIFT, INT. ADVANCED 2 DEGREES. ** NOTE: THIS CAM UPGRADE MAY REQUIRE THE IDLE RPM BE SET TO 850 RPM TO PREVENT POSSIBLE STALLING AT IDLE. 2004+ LEV II VEHICLES DO NOT ALLOW FOR IDLE ADJUSTMENT AND SHOULD NOT USE THESE CAMS WITHOUT SEEING OUR TECH SECTION ON IDLE STABILITY MODS. WILL NOT WORK ON 2005+ REV-UP ENGINE WITH EXH. CAM CONTROL.

PART DESCRIPTION: S1 CAM SET FOR VQ35DE**. JWT S1 BILLET CAMS ADD 15+HP WHILE MAINTAINING EXCELLENT DRIVABILITY AND GOOD IDLE QUALITY. EVEN MORE AWESOME WHEN COMBINED WITH A TUNED EXHAUST AND OUR POP-CHARGER INTAKE SYSTEM.

FITS:350Z, ALTIMA, MAXIMA, XTERRA, G35, ALTIMA 2002+, MAXIMA 2002+, MURANO, FX35

ENGINES:VQ35DE

PRICE: $1,198.00

How will you pass emissions with cams and ecu change?

Technosquare should be able to handle the ECU reprogramming if you don't want to go to JWT (or if you already have a TS ECU), especially if you're willing to fork out the cash for a custom tune.

350Z cams will fit, so you have tons of choices-- I'm really only familiar with the JWT 350Z S1 and S2's, though. I don't think C2's are practical on a street car without extensive ECU tuning, plus the lope at idle will make passing emissions a dicey proposition at best.

Normally I wouldn't post FS's here, but since you asked: I just picked up a set of very very low miles (like less than 1k) 2002 Maxima VQ cams. They were from a new engine torn down as a racing parts donor that weren't used. They are stock now but as someone here mentioned there should be several grind choices available for 350 etc. (a race grind would be a very bad idea for the street I think) A new core set is 640 from Nissan, but I'll take a reasonable offer. I'll also post some other FS's later of a few more very select VQ engine parts. Please email [email protected] if you would like them-they are sweet..peace. Jim
