Buy all the parts and do it yourself... I've heard it's not too hard.

I am actually going to do it on my s13 when it gets warmer and I'm an 18 year old kid thats never touched a car before.... minus installing a intake on an s2000

I started out just like you, trying to find a shop, here in socal, that would do my vert. When I finally got a call or e-mail back from them I was half way done doing it myself. I got several quotes from area ahops and one guy on craig's list and the prices ranged from $400 plus the cost of parts for the guy on craig's, to $650 plus the cost of parts for a shop called g-dimension.dude, hit up wrecking yards especially pick-a-part and you can get everything you need for not that much $. here is what i paid for what i got at pick-a-part.5-peed driveshaft- 31.99crossmember- 9.99clutch hardline- 7.99engine/trans plate- 7.49clutch pedal assy- 15.99brake pedal assy- 15.99center console - 9.99 just under $100 I bought my trans of ebay a while back for $75I did splurge on a new clutch kit, flywheel, master cyl., slave cyl., rubber clutch line, royal purple and misc hardware/fluids. $600total is like 775 bux. pretty cheap!if you are like me, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. trust me, you will feel a GREAT sense of accomplishment and pride when it is done. you will feel better about it when you show other people your ride. "hey, did you do the 5-speed?" "no, 'some shop' did it."

thanks for the words of encouragement.Yeah, I know the feeling of doing something on your own. I used to have a mechanic do almost everything in my car. But I decided to do things my own when I found out that the dealership and another shop was not doing what I requested to do like bleeding the brake, and change all the belts while repairing the rear main seal that was leaking

One reason I want somebody to do it now is because I only have one car and I was afraid that I make a mistake. but since I got another car (s13), I will slowly collect the parts and do it on my own.

BTW, one shop (a transmission shop) quoted me $2,000 for parts and labor including the ECU.
