I had them for exactly six months before I ended up getting rid of my Z for a family car (got my first one on the way any day now!)
I found the suspension slowly stiffened up a bit over time, but make no mistake - these are a perfect middle-ground coilover system for someone that wants to have flexibility in their suspension setup without compromising daily usability. These are definitely usable on the track or whatnot if you see yourself doing a weekend autocross or something like that, but if you're looking for all-out hardcore performance, there are better systems more oriented toward that type of use.
As far as potholes and stuff, let's be honest - I was always careful being that the Z isn't particularly high off the ground to start with. I used the out-of-the-box settings and was lowered about 3/4". These coils allow for a decent bit of suspension travel, so if I went over a speed bump too fast, I would scrape. However, normal dips in the road at speed, potholes, etc were not much more concern than normal after I got accustomed to the car. The HKS application for the Z did allow for the system to be adjusted to the stock height of the car, so you might want to check the G35's specific application to see what the range of ride height is - staying at stock height is more comfortable for some. I'm pretty sure it will allow you to retain stock height if you want to. The instructions advise you as to which heights are recommended for the car - the Z's instructions had a range which the ride height could be adjusted, and it had a recommended driving range (you could completely dump the car for show if you want to, but you're not going to do any driving at that setting).
Overall, they broke in exceptionally well - I felt they got better after the initial 1000 miles or so that I put on them. The only thing I felt I could improve is that body roll was slightly increased, but that happens when you change the ride height of a car. Stiffer sway bars were the key for the Z, and depending on what you're looking for with your G, you may end up wanting to invest in a pair of sway bars if you drop it an inch or so on the coilovers, but it's nothing that has to be done right away.
As far as BC vs the HKS - there is absolutely no question - go for the HKS. They are a much higher quality system than the BCs.
Out of curiosity, is your G35 a sport model? I actually found the HKS to ride better than the stock sport dampers on my 370Z (even adjusted to full-stiff, they weren't as stiff as the stock sport package suspension). I imagine the adjustable range for dampening is different for a base model, though - allowing for both stiffer and softer ride quality and handling.
Stick around here and post up some pics and stuff about your G35, especially if you get the coilovers!
