Looking for advise

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

So just picked up my 2014 qx50 yesterday and noticed two fairly large stone chips right beside each other on the drivers door. Spoke to the dealer and they said they would "take care of it" but I would need to wait until next week. I didn't go into detail how the fix would be. IMO I think they should repair the entire door no touch up since the car only has 19km on it and to me that's not new when it's received chipped but do have a concern on the quality of the repainting will be or should I just get a good touch up job done and push for some type of discount?

If it was your car what would you ask for? I'm pretty picky on the look of any of my cars and knowing that the chips are there might drive me batty but also the car is black and stone chips will happen sooner or later.

Since it is a new car is is highly unlikely that the damage was caused by a rock chip with barely 19km :nono: on the door??? Com on now that is one special rock

What is more like more likely is that either it was damage during transport/shipment or during delivery at the dealership...
When it comes to "fixing it" please be aware of the following advice coming from someone who worked for one of the largest collision centers in Canada and still works in the industry

NOTHING will match a factory paint as they use a (high bake) method that not one single collision center are capable of (low bake)..they will most probably re paint the complete doors with a blend in method with hopefully a near perfect color match which is always harder on a pearl color.

If you accept going this route you must realize that it will affect your resale value of the car and always look for any fume or clear affecting the rest of the panels

really unfortunate...
Keep us posted and best of luck with an incredible reliable car

You are exactly right. Going to see what they offer and go from there. When I had my 370z roadster it was keyed on the back quarter panel. Had to get it repainted they did a great job but did find some over spray that I buffed out.

Not going to be as picky of this car as I was with the 370 since it will be year around and the family car I know it will get dings through winter and such. Just not happy it was like that on delivery.
