I haven't driven my Q, other than around the block, for the last 2.5 years.

I originally purchased it from a small dealer in town. Since i was making a few payments, there was a lien on the title. I was informed by the state (KS), that once the car was paid in full, my title would be released and mailed to me.

I paid the car off in 2005, but stopped driving it around the time my tags expired a year later. I put it in the garage and kinda forgot about while being busy with home life.

Now here is my problem....I went to pickup my title in Topeka and they say that the lien has never been released. The company I bought it from is no longer there, I cant find them anywhere.

The state told me all I could do was wait til 2015 to title it, or hire an attorney.

I assume an attorney would cost me way more than the cars value and the only other option I see is to part it out. (which I would hate to see happen to such a beauty).

Might I add that we are buying a house and the wife says either it goes with me driving it, or it needs to go I also hate to see it rot away in my garage.

So my fellow Q45 lovers, what would you do?

Can't sell it without a title.

Petition or sue DMV for the title.

In Nebraska, car dealerships have to go through a LOT of red tape to get a license to sell used cars. This creates a huge paper trail. If you purchased it from a small dealer in a large town, the city government should have documents available giving names and maybe addresses of the people that incorporated the dealership. This will let you hunt them down, and get the lien released, as most of those small dealerships sign their titles with a person's name instead of a business name.

Also in Nebraska, you can bond your title and pretty much subvert anything else on the title, including liens, alternate owners, and salvaged titles. But it'll cost ya.

Your mileage may vary, of course.
