My wife and I went to the Cleveland auto show over the weekend. Of all the cars we saw there, we liked the Versa the best. We found it quite roomy and very affordable. We also had a '09 S sedan as a rental last summer when we visited our parents in Denver. We liked how it worked for us then. I for one was impressed with how high the seating position was in such a small car, and how quiet it was (I didn't know the engine was running until my wife was driving in the parking lot).

At any rate, we will probably buy a new car within the next six to twelve months (waiting for my late mother's house to sell ). Other than what is posted in the FAQ section, is there anything I should be looking out for? We will probably go through AAA to purchase our car.

Welcome, Tom. Indeed, the Versa is a roomy car. I don't have the sedan, I have the hatchback. I've had mine for over three years. Reliable, thrifty, anda practical car.

I prefer the hatchback because in my opinion, it's more versatile.

Is the show still at the I-X center? Is Drennan still on the radio? "I love ya, Cleveland!" Sindelar? Roda?

Best wishes buying your Versa.

My only suggestion would be try them all and buy the most you like and can afford. I bought my first and scoffed at paying $700 for the "convenience package" with steering wheel audio, bluetooth and a couple of other things. Then my daughter bought one with it and I wished I'd sprung for it. When I bought my next one I made sure it had it, and love it!

I'm also a big fan of the CVT - it alone is enough to keep me in Versa's for some time to come. I went in expecting to by a manual transmission and am so glad I didn't!

My wife likes the hatchback, and I think I will let her win this one. The extra cargo room is a compelling argument for the hatchback over the sedan. I am curious as to why the sedan is considered less reliable than the hatchback, though.

The auto show is still at the I-X center. For those of you wonering, it is just south of the airport on OH 237. The show runs through the 7th for those of you in the area who want to check it out.

I haven't heard Drennan or Sindelar (or if I have, then the names don't ring a bell - I am new to northeast Ohio.) Roda is on WKNR 850 AM.

Was the guy who does the commercials for Nissal of North Olmstead always this annoying?

I bought mine after checking an driving many similar vehicles. However, after driving the Versa I knew this was the one. First good point was interior space; it is great. Second point was engine; quiet and peppy. Third was mileage; twice what I used to get with my V6 truck. Fourth was the very comfortable ride. Fifth was excellent cargo space and finally, the engine is not screaming at highway speeds like some of the others with smaller displacement engines. Very important to me since I use this car almost 100% for highway driving, about 700 miles one way several times a year. So far I am very impressed with the Versa, I know that I made the right choice.

I'll add another reason to buy one. Nissan is offering employee prices until March 31st.

I've had mine for almost a year and love it. I have the hatch and am glad I bought it. Buy all the extras you think you'll use. I bought the S because it had all that I wanted and I knew I was going to replace a lot of the parts anyway.

I'd say the Versa is a pretty good car for the money. If you've already driven one as a rental, then what's stopping you? I only have minor complaints about the car such as it doesn't handle bumps that well and the CVT sometimes keeps the RPMs hanging when I'm accelerating and flies up when pushing the gas even slightly more until I just let go of the pedal. I don't know why it's designed to drive like that but it's really nice when using cruise control on hilly roads. It doesn't downshift and scream like a regular automatic. And the almost SUV-like interior space and seating position is a big plus. I'd spring for 2010 SL model. Even with with the wierd rpm hanging my CVT sometimes does, it's nice otherwise and there's a lot of standard equipment. (map lights, keyless and power, abs, VSC, etc)
