I think you're going about it the right way. the more people you let know/the more sources, the better. And connecting with owner groups/forums like this one can generate good leads. For example, I had bought a then new '89 240SX new and had it for 14 years. I ended up selling it to a friend I met on NICO who sought an original owner car).
That said, I imagine there are a few original owner/family Pathy garage queens still out there, but not many. It could take awhile to find one, and require a long distance to get it. Since they're not considered particularly collectible, most of that era Pathys were used as DD's and are gonna have 150K+ miles. Perhaps in the short term you might consider buying a well maintained, rust free, sub 125K mile, reasonably priced one , and enjoy it while you search for that elusive white whale.
