Hello everyone, as the thread title states.....I’m looking for a unicorn. Know full well I may never find one but I’m on the hunt anyway.

I’d love to find an ‘03 Grey over Black with low miles, in super shape. I’ve been actively looking for months on CarGurus, Autotrader, and Cars.com without much success. I’m in the R50/Pathfinder QX4 group on FB too.

I’d also entertain ‘01-‘03 Silver or Burgundy as well. MUST have Black interior, with the Sport package and running boards.

How likely am I to find such a unicorn, anyone know of any? And if there are any other avenues I should be looking in please let me know.

Thanks

I think you're going about it the right way. the more people you let know/the more sources, the better. And connecting with owner groups/forums like this one can generate good leads. For example, I had bought a then new '89 240SX new and had it for 14 years. I ended up selling it to a friend I met on NICO who sought an original owner car).

That said, I imagine there are a few original owner/family Pathy garage queens still out there, but not many. It could take awhile to find one, and require a long distance to get it. Since they're not considered particularly collectible, most of that era Pathys were used as DD's and are gonna have 150K+ miles. Perhaps in the short term you might consider buying a well maintained, rust free, sub 125K mile, reasonably priced one , and enjoy it while you search for that elusive white whale. Good luck with your quest.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

If you know of any such sub 125k mike rust free ones that meet the color criteria I laid out please let me know. QX4 not Pathy btw ;)

Thanks again,
Brian

I have been LOOKING passively for a while now also, same boat as you. My requirements are 02-03 Silver-only, black interior, 4x4, pref. west coast car, non-navigation. Just recently there was a guy in WI selling his. Meets all my requirements minus 4x4. Check it out:

In fact, I am following this dude on IG his username is SASQX4TCH. His QX4 has big tires, mild lift, light bar, SUPER clean but he blew a head gasket and is selling the car. San Diego car!

I live in CA and was on the same hunt as you were for over a year. What you are looking for is still out there if you keep your eye on the CA,AZ,NV,OR,WA craigslist daily. Strangely it seems that the nicest ones weren't 4WD. I was looking for one with the heated seat/LSD package which is even harder to find in warmer climates. I ended up flying to a dealership in WA to get it and drove it back. It had 111k and was in pretty good shape but still needed some help in a few areas. I did pay over 6k for it and still sunk at least another 4k to have it tip top. Be prepared to go to some lengths to get it and to pay what they want. I'll keep an eye out for you because I still love to look.

You need to find the person that owned this https://yubasutter.craigslist.org/ctd/d ... 78147.html before they traded it in.

It doesn't have black interior but looks good overall. 105k miles. The side of the drivers seat isn't torn up so that's good. Might be a mark on the back bumper and the spoiler is broken. Be patient and you'll find it.

I got one other tip that I use when searching. I create a mycarfax account (free) and add the VIN of the vehicle I'm interested in. It will give you an idea of the maintenance it's had and where it's lived. Stay away from anything that's been in a salt state.

May as well just custom upholster the interior! Greatly narrows the search for a quality low-mileage vehicle, with a brand new interior.
