Looking For A Q45 Mechanic in the Washington, DC Area

Hi Folks:

Moving from New Orleans to the DC area. In NOLA I used hints from the forum here and a good local mechanic. This allowed me to avoid the local stealer-ship most of the time. I did not drive much and the 1995 Q45 has under 90k miles. New job and I want to bring my car up here. Reverse commute will be about 50 miles R/T, likely 3 days a week as I will take the Metro half of the time. Living on Capitol Hill but work in Bethesda and the Rockville / Shady Grove / Gaithersburg area. On the Red Line Metro I see lots of auto dealers and repair shops on Route 355 in Rockville. Anyone have any suggestions? Thx 

Also forgot to ask:
Body work needed: small door dents and scratches, marred and chipped paint on the bumpers - might need new paint job, and front pass side turn light got smashed. Paint, esp on roof is coarse and prob the whole car needs to be "buffed out". The dings are prob too expensive to really bother with. Trying to hold costs down. In New Orleans, I got estimates from $500-1000. Variations had to do with extent of bumper repairs mostly. There is a dent at the rear bumper from backing into a tree (oops).

Some of the thin black gasket like rubber seals around the windows are starting to peel away. What should I do, or just let the body shop reseal these areas?

Any reccs for a body shop with fair prices?

I have torn leather on the driver door trim where I "rest" my left arm. About 2 x 5 inches. Some truly minor seat leather damage too. Maybe too early to repair now.

Window tint also needs a redo. Again, any reccs?

Anyplace on these or other forums that lists/mentions stuff like this (reccs for places to go for repairs and such, vouched for by real users) and not scam sites?

Thank you from DC (Yeah, it ain't New Orleans).

There are a couple of good auto upholsters in Woodbridge, VA off route 1. Just do a google search for the names/address and visit the shops to determine who the right person for you. Do a good search for Nissan/Infiniti clubs in NOVA for recommendations on a good Q mechanic. Because the earlier version Q45's are so far few and between these days. You're really just going to need to find an experienced and honest mechanic that's willing to troubleshoot and fix the problems with your Q45. Many Infiniti dealerships have lost familiarity with Q45's these days since there are such a small number of Q45's on the road these days. :yesnod

Check out California Tint in Tysons Corner. You might have some doubts when you see his disheveled look, but he's a super nice guy and has a great local reputation. He did two of my cars, and they both turned out great and have lasted years. Tint laws in DC/VA/MD are not great though, and each state will hold you to their laws.

For repair work, only place I could personally recommend is Joyce Motors near the Clarendon metro stop in Arlington. I used to help around their shop as a summer job when I was younger, and they ran a good clean shop. No cutting corners and good mechanics. The head tech / co-owner is a family friend, and I'd trust him with any of my cars. They did some work on my Q45 back when I had one with no complaints. Their reviews do sometimes suffer due to the entitlement BS attitude that is so prevalent in the DC area, but I've never seem them do anything but bend over backwards for people who didn't deserve it.
