I'm in the middle of my motor rebuild, and I'm trying to sort out some nit picky parts.

The head I have for my mtor was missing all of the valve cover studs, so I ordered new ones from nissan (12x 53J00 shorties and 1x 53J10 long). My dilemma is this: the center stud is supposed to be the long shanked stud, but when I install it and set my valve cover down, it sticks up way too far. So far that I can't get the insulator and washer to sit down flush with the valve cover. There's a good 3-5 millimeters of space.

If I install the short shanked one, I can get the nut and insulator/washer on, but it's only on by one or two threads. Not good enough IMO.

I called up my parts man to see if there's a mysterious part # that I missed, but the computer only spits out the two afformentioned numbers. Since I'm at work and can't exactly go pull the valve cover off of my car right now, I was gonna see if there was anyone who can verify what size center stud they have. I have a feeling it's just a shortie, and I'm being paranoid about the thread issue. Once it gets tightened down, it would get more threads as the insulator gets compressed.

Pics for comparison.

Shortie:

Long:

The center stud between cylinders 2 and 3 is supposed to be 13508-52F00. Not available in the US. Try Phase2.

Thanks Nick. I had a feeling it was a Jap only part.
