For those who went ipod... does anyone have a working trunk changer with (not sure of the name of the pin config) that will fit my 94? I'm looking here first before I go down the ebay rabbithole.

Mine seized up with a full carousel and I was able to rip it apart but no matter how many hammer strikes the CD in the spinner was stuck (and lost).

Thanks so much,

Peterofpaoli

The original CD Changer is the 10-Disc from Sony, which many on here will tell you, is junk. Many of them seemed to have failed (including mine). So what you want to do is get the Clarion CV737 6-Disc changer that works on several Nissan/Infiniti models, including our 1994 Qs. It's much more reliable and it's plug and play. I bought mine off Ebay a few months ago and it works flawlessly. Couldn't be happier with it. There's a couple on sale on Ebay right now. Here'a a link to one of them:

Actually, they are certainly not junk, but need a tune up from Sony every 10 years or so.

The magazines may be unavailable though.

After the USB jump drive in newer cars with no moving parts, CD payers are going the way of the cassette players.

OP, email me if you want more information.

Like Q45Owner said, the Clarion CD changer is a lot more reliable.. :)

Another option is getting the head unit from like a G20 or maxima that has in-dash CD and going that route. You'll need the $20 adapter harness, but everything is plug and play.

My subwoofer would render any thrunk mounted cd changer useless haha! Mine worked sometimes when I got the car... chucked it and stuffed a 12" Infinity (as a fun pun) sub into that nook. My music listening is all mp3s and pandora. I think CDs in general are slowly going the way of the cassette.

If you absolutely HAD to have a cd changer, why on earth wouldn't you get one that at least plays mp3s? They make them with built in hardwire fm modulators, so you would intercept the antenna plug in the trunk, and use it with a nice aftermarket headunit. That's what I was going to do before I scrapped the idea for a hard drive system. Those were just my opinios though, and we know what they say about that haha :)

Orrrrr, you can just buy a reliable used Clarion changer for $50-$60 and not have to get a "tune up from Sony every 10 years or so".

The Clarions are about 10 years old now. We'll see how they hold up. USB jump drives are so much better as they have higher capacity, instant access, and no moving parts.
