i just found out that my engine has 2 bad cylinders and the shop says the motor is dead and i should junk the car or rebuild/swap the engine. ive called around and shops are quoting me $3000-$3500 for a rebuild and $2400 for a ka24e(only does what engine came with the car). sounds kinda of procey to me. so im lookin for a engine to do the swap with some friends. is the engine really shot or is there something i can do to fix the low compression in the 3 & 4th cylinders? i just dont wanna spend more money then i should? any help would mean alot. i live in northern virginia. fi anyone knows where i can find a ka24de. or tell me where i place i should look.

You can find used engine's pretty easily at http://www.car-part.com

They are used, but with a little searching you can normally find a good low mileage engine for less than $700.

That's the way I'd go.

When mine was built it was just about 3 grand as well... shame they make it soo expensive. for that money SR's always sound attractive. ON that note... call some shops that do SR conversion, they might have an engine laying around.
