Well, 16 years old, and w/o a job, it sucks. I need one bad. If your in the Houston area, and own a aftermarket performance parts shop that deals with imports , and would like to hire a 16 yr. old male who is asking for minimum wage, whos also good with people, and knows enough about cars, I'm open:D Anyways, I have applied at Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Walgreens, and so far no good. Any suggestions?

Fluffer? :D

Just kidding...

No, really.

Anyway, if you can't find any performance shops to work at how about a place like Jiffy Lube or a parts store like Autozone. It seems like those would be a good places to start.

Maybe starting off detailing cars, that is a very profiatable position for someone your age. I used to be able to make 200 a car, and a car would take me 6-8 hours.

Try all retail stores and fastfood. I never applied for fastfood places though. Keep checking back with places you apply for that way they know your interested with them.

I used to work in a lawfirm and no longer working there for about 2 months but I just got a new job at Cingular wireless and I must say, the pay isnt as good as the lawfirm but it sure is a good environment to be working at. pretty simple and easy to learn. BTW im 21 and did alot of diff kind of job. You might try looking at cellular phone stores hehe. Good place to work at age of 16 IMO. (Better than fast food places)

You might laugh but McDonalls will hook you up. I never worked there but my little cousin does. They have scolarship programs and all kinds of encentives but it is a greasy burger joint too.

eh if you want to make big bucks (eh), work at a high turnover family reastraunt as a waiter. I worked at Friendly's when I was 16, walked home with at least $75 in cash every night from tips. Its a decent deal, and while it's not car related, you'll have plenty of money to spend on your car, which is much, much better! haha

:drooling Resume is on the way. Also, another note, which I had no intentions of someone actually replying with a post like this, but this seriously makes my day and I have been having a bad one. Also, I dont intend on making big bucks, but I do need a job an I really do, like really need to get some kind of cash flow going, especially if its a job I will love, even if its sweeping. Thanks all, we'll see what Alan thinks.

The Best Buy here won't hire unless you're a high school grad, so students kinda get the shaft. Lots of people work at the movie theater, pretty much a slack job. I was a lifeguard over the summer, the pool I worked at was awesome ($8/hr and small), but unless its an indoor place that won't matter much right now, and it requires a $50 (I think it was that much) training course in CPR/First Aid and Lifeguarding. Just a few ideas.

Get a job at a tire shop... every shop needs errand/part time work to sweep the floors, ya know? You'll learn a helluva lot...

Fair wage + gaining car knowledge = time well spent.

I know they aren't open, just an idea (say, for summer... or something... uh...). Yeah anyway, I really like the auto parts store/ tire shop/ quick-lube type idea, car knowledge and money are great things when together.

busing tables at a mid-high end resturant. hours suck, coworkers suck, and its hard work. but i make all under the table $4/hr + mad tips= quick money. i also work at a wood working shop that sells very expensive custom furniture. (they sell stuff to the queen of england and s*** like that) i just help out there by cleaning up, finishing furniture, moving wood around in the barns he has completly full of wood. doesnt pay too much but its a much more relaxing job than busing tables.
