Hello,

I an in NYC and am looking for references for a good Q45 tech or shop. I have a leaky front passenger strut/actuator on a 94 Q45a that needs to be replaced. Other work would be:

1. Steering column shakes a little on bad/rough roads.2. Lazy sunroof motor. (sometimes literally needs a hand to open and close)3. Noisy fan for AC and heat, anything over the lowest speed, there is a strong vibration coming from the dash.

Thank you.

Peter

Depending on your standards of perfection [how close to new you want the car to behave].

You might need 10 hours of labor [a pure guess] by an expert plus whatever else they find associated.

Parts costs are parts cost inthat independents charge the same retail as dealers [you can save 20-25% by supplying your own parts] however many shops predicate their shop hours based on making their margin from parts markup, so you may get hit with a surcharge on labor with customer supplied parts and no warranty on your parts .

Even T3 has had to to go to a 15% [added labor to cover cutomer supplied parts] to maintain our basic $85 per hour labor rate.

I would pay a dealer their hour to diagnose and written quote everything THEN shop the labor!

This guy named Bobby Q45. He's in Brooklyn. I hear he's great. A Q owner who came by for a BBQ gave me his number. Haven't had time to go out there yet. He's cheap and has been working on Q's since '89.
