Hey folks,

Ok I've jsut recently purhcased an '89 Nissan 240sx and I'm looking to do some modifications to really enjoy it as a driver's car. A lot has been done already but more still needs to be done With that being said I'm looking to convert the thing to an HID system.

I am very aware of glare and scatter from the stock headlamps going HID. I don't want to blind oncoming traffic nor do I want to get in trouble with the fuzz aka the five-0 etc.

The original owner of the car had converted the front lights to an H4 system. Correct me if I'm wrong but I cannot just put an H4 HID system into the car as the light WILL scatter correct?

What are some options people have done to get their S13's to be able to support, and be oncomming traffic friendly, an HID system?

I've done some searching and threads like these always get into a debate from people who want to just go HID and those that speak out against it as it'll blind other driver's etc.

Looking for a non-combative thread. What have you done to go HID, where did you get the parts, could my H4 conversation legally support HID, and any information that would help would be great.

I've seen some people get rid of the popups and go with a sil80 front end (3 light thing w/retrofit) but I'm not a fan of that look.Help? Pics of yours?-Rik

see if you can find glass lights that are not a sealed unit like the oe headlights. then get an h4 hid kit. i got one from ebay for 125, but mine is single beam. you will have to look for h4 bi-xenon it will come with ballasts, bulbs and high/low beam controllers. and so u wont have to worry about 5os go with 5k or 4k temp bulbs, they are the whitest and brightest.

just make sure your headlights(housings) are not plastic, they might melt under high temp of an hid sys.

do NOT get a HID kit. the only actual way of getting more output is a retrofit. not a lot of people like to go that route but that is the best way. and melting plastic is BS. HID systems run at 35W compared to halogens 55W thus creating less heat than a halogen system.

if you do not want to blind oncoming traffic, do not get a kit period. ive had it before and i hated it. go to http://www.hidplanet.com and search about HID output etc.
