I may have what you're looking for. It's a JBL 8" sub in a bazooka type tube with no amp. Wish I took a picture of it before I sold my digital camera. Anyway, it looks kind of like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...93598

The only difference is mine is old school style, carpeted wood tube (not plastic), and it's round all the way because it has no built in amp. Still in working condition. I recently upgraded my setup to 2 12" Sony Xplod subs.

I'm asking $20 OBO plus actual shipping.

I may be able to borrow my friend's camera and take a picture of it if you're interested.

The problem with a small bass tube in a Q45 is that if the bass tube if put in the trunk, your not really gonna hear it all that great. I know from experiance. I had a Pioneer Premere 12" sub with 300watts in my trunk and it was actually quite tame. The gas tank and leather rear seat is the real issue here. A small 8" sub is just not going to have enough power to overcome these obsticles. To overcome these obsticles, my new sub system consists of 2 ED 12" subs facing back into the trunk with the ports firing up through the rear speaker locations. The sound will travel through the port, out the rear deck, reflect off the rear window via a horn-loading senario and go through the passenger compartment. If your wanting a bit of a kick to add to your bose system and not eat up much of your trunk space, make a fiberglass enclosure behind one of the tail lights and pop a 10" or 12" sub. Fiberglassing a box in this area is actually quite easy. There are several tutorials online to assist you with that. Or if need be, I can make the box and ship it to ya. Afterall, I have made FG boxes before and have a Q45 to use as a test bed of sorts.

I had a single 8" setup and they sounded okay on my 240sx fastback. The bass would be able to rattle my car a bit, but not as much as the 2 12"s I have right now. The audio clarity was average, but then again I have ****ty 4x6 speakers.

I have the 5" Bazooka multimedia sub, and damn for a 5" it sounds really deep.... I can't even imagine what their 12s or 10s must sound like.

Well, I rode in AZQ45's (Jed's) Q and he had an 8" Bazooka in it, and it sounded fine. Too much bass and you'll overpower the Bose system's mids and highs (I keep mine cranked up to 10 a lot).

What do you do about your CD changer? Does the extra bass make it skip?

I just want to avoid running another amp and wiring....

You might also want to check out the Infinity speaker brand "Basslink"

Basically the same thing as a bazooka tube, but in a much more compact, rectangular design, and very potent. Built in amp, 200 watts rms.

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and - Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten? Nigel Tufnel: Exactly. Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder? Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where? Marty DiBergi: I don't know. Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do? Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven. Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder. Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder? Nigel Tufnel: [Pause] These go to eleven.

I wouldn't worry about a CD "skipping". I had a CRX with a (starting waaaaay back machine) Sony Disc Jockey mounted in a cut out/tunnel under my box with 2 Fosgate Pro 12's running of a Power 300 and it never skipped. It was cool b ack then to be able to reach the disc magazine from the drivers seat :)

The Bazooka in Jed's trunk made his changer skip if cranked up loud....

Phil, I'm familiar with the Basslink - It'd be my first choice if i was replacing the whole system, but It's a tad pricey for my budget...

I'll keep looking for a used powered 6-8" Bazooka.... You guys keep an eye peeled as well?
