Looking to join the Q family and after doing a little bit of research, I feel Im ready to take on a purchase but Im pretty particular about what exactly I want. Though it seems the popularity of this car has jumped a bit since my last inquiry (Quite some years ago I might add), its still pretty dang hard to find one in good condition. And when I do find one that appears well maintained, its not the color or doesn't have the options Im looking for....all that said, I guess Im looking for a reality check here. How realistic is it for me to find 2000 - 2001 that is:

Dark Green (come in these years?)
Navigation
Wood Steering Wheel

The way its been going, it appears Im going to have to give up one or several of these if I want to purchase a decent Q. But if its just a matter of waiting things out, I feel I have the patience to do so. Its been about 6 months now though so Im wondering if Im just chasing a dream.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Joel, personally I wouldn't bother with the navigation in those years. It was CD-based, and overall it's junk compared to even a stand-alone (like a garmin or tom-tom), there's probably no updates for it, and overall I wouldn't recommend it. There's not too many out there with navigation. You'd be far better off if you wanted in-dash navigation to add an aftermarket unit after the fact.

I think the wood steering wheels were more common, however again I wouldn't bother finding one that already has one, if you found something that fits the bill otherwise, steering wheels aren't too bad to swap out.

Dark Green was available those years, but I haven't seen too many of those, seems like green ones were more common in 97-98 for the second gen's.

Looking around online, I only found one dark green 2000-2001, and it did have factory navigation, but no wood steering wheel, but again not a big deal because you could just buy a steering wheel. Most of the "green" ones in those years were the real light green.

Light green 2000 with 75k miles, nav, wood package. All for a whopping 9k on cars.com..... that is a 3-4k car all day

Elwesso - thanks for the reply!

I was aware of the CD-based Nav. I really prefer it more so for the novelty than functionality honestly so that still works for me, but of the three things I been looking for, it def ranks the lowest. The steering wheel swap was something I thought about too, but was concerned about color matching. I added such a steering wheel to an I30 I used to own and the difference in shade between it and the factory appointments eventually bugged me. Lol...yea, im a little picky.

Your input on the rarity of the dark Green in these years is very helpful. I know now if I should come across another, to just jump on it seeing as Color is at the top of my list. Im a nissan fan and my maxima and I30 both have been that awesome "looks black but its not" dark green color. Shines so nice when kept well....Ok Im going off on a tangent here. Would you mind shooting me a link to the one you found?

BCC93QT - Many thanks for the update! I believe my radar's caught this one already. Didn't really vibe with the light green starting out, but the fewer dark Green options I come across the more this color begins to appeal to me. I dunno, I just might. 9k for that mileage is around what Im seeing in my area so I'd go for it.

That price is a little high, but low miles and looks nice.

Go look at it and have it shipped back to you if you like it... Shipping a car shouldn't cost more than $500, no to mention the extra time you'd have to take off to make that happen.

There's no way it's worth 8k though, more like 5k best case. Private party is about $4200, but it's hard to find low miles cars like that well maintained so it might be worth 5000-5500, but not the craziness the seller is asking.

Wood steering wheels for this model can be had for $100-125 all day anyhow. I do see the wood underneath the wheel. I shipped my Q car from orlando to massachusetts for $500 years back. im sure you could get it for 5k including the shipping

I sent a Inquiry...we'll see. I've had bad experiences with shipping cars. Definately gun shy there but I'll look into it. Thanks guys

Shipping any car even a new car is iffy. During my time pushing Subarus some would come off the truck with decent scratches. Dealership swaps were common with damages. Even Some of my salesman backed some cars into others. Fortunately we had a body shop. No one wants a car with 3 miles that has a carfax that says its been in an accident. Good luck! report back! Where are you located BTW. I know some transporters. If I can tell them a Q on ticket I may be able to help

Thats very kind of you sir. I may just take you up on that! Radio silence from the seller thus far though. Flag number one for me but I'll give em a little more time.

Thanks again,
Joel

There are two in my area that have low miles. Philadelphia. Check on Philly Craigslist as well. There is one at Devon BMW I believe and another on in Nj that has 75k miles. Google search q45 for sale in Nj. If you want a black one that is clean low miles but older check zoom autos. I drove the one at zoom. Very smooth if they still have it. I'll post links but all are not green. Tan in Nj white at BMW but very nice wood wheel clean. Blk at zoom.

If its a project car. 97 53k miles. Cream q45t this is a Craigslist add from Philly and not mine. I do not know this person I'm just trying to help. I'm on cl daily looking at Q45 for parts. Number is 8565162794 or 2677187088 they are asking 5 grand. I paid 6 for a 98 base with same mileage in mint condition. Most Q are around 5k w 100+ miles in this area.

Hello Ang37:

Thanks so much for the leads. I tend to find Q's like this closer to my location. Im admittedly being a little A-rententive on color specifically so if you see anything in Dark Green I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks again,
Joel
