Howdy,
I'm posting this in hope to help a friend of mine. He's got a '63 L320 and sent the engine to a guy to have it rebuilt. In that process the guy apparently 'broke' the oil pump while removing it. Now I'm not sure of the extent of what was broken. I do know that my friend has been looking for months for one. I've searched through the listing that have information about oil pumps. I have a couple questions.

1) Is there anyone out there that has an pump they would be willing to sell?
2) I've noticed that people say the MGA MGB-3 1963 pump is the same except the pickup I believe. Is this something that can be modified to work with this engine and how hard is that?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Rindress

rindress,

Yes, an oil pump from a 3 main bearing MGA and the early Bs will work. The one main difference is the side mounted pickup of the E1 vs a top mounted pickup of the BMC stuff. Both Victoria British (VB) and Moss Motors (MM) sell the oil pump; however, you will need to source a side mounted pickup from eBay or a MGA/B forum. All gaskets from the MGA/B are the same for the E1. Otherwise no modifications are required and there are no clearance issues.

Sorry somewhere I had a side by side pic of the Nissan OE oil pump and a new BMC type pump that I took down at VB, just cannot locate it.

If Ted has an extra, I'd recommend this route.

Sounds great.

I'll have to go this route with my next rebuild as my E engine from my 222 is getting my spare new/OE oil pump.

Let us know if you have any other question I've rebuilt 2 x E1 and working on an E and Steve with Might Mouse has rebuilt his.

All parts are out there, okay, maybe not a new crank or cam (used if you can find one), but everything else is available new.

my 320 engine is being machined and i am rounding up the parts for the rebuild. I followed info in lil truckies rebuild but i am wondering about the oil pump internals i Found an oil pump repair kit on Ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/201250115302?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT and was wondering if any one knows for certain if this also fits the E1 from 1963 oil pump body and dist drive gear?
