After test driving the M45 I was sold instantly, what a great driving car, perfect blend of luxury and perfromace. Now two year with an M45 and too many visits to the dealer...I had a new engine, ICC cruise, seat track, and now more too add at next visit for its 52500 service...I am looking at trading it for a G. At least the service at the dealership has been great and I have the elite warranty till 01/13. I am worried what this car will cost me out of warranty. Its a great car but too much stuff to break plus so far quaility has been average not great.

I dont mind the G's, after driving the loaners around so much I think they are more fun to drive plus I would lower payments and better fuel ecomony on regular gas. I have a co worker who swears the G is a strong car and on the M forum the M35 tends to have much less problems than the M45 (Most M45's are more heavily equiped).

So I am looking at different G35/37. So far what I have found is some very low mileage 2007 G35 (7000-12000kmi) selling for around $23-25,000. The 2008's I am finding have around 30kmi and sell for around the same $24-27. The G37's are running closer to $30,000. I have not engaged in any negoiations with the dealers. I want to go through an Infiniti dealer so I can get the Elite warranty again. My question are:

Any issues that the 07 vs 08 have? My M is 2006 so maybe the first year run is the problem, have the G's seen better model years vs others.

Is thier a big difference in MPG 35 vs 37? (I am now doing 20000miles a year) What is the real world MPG, the M averages around 17-18 in mixed driving with high test gas only.

How do you tell the base, journey, and premium? (I have premiun on the M)
Would like bluetooth, homelink, A/C seats, and XM radio as these are the features I use and enjoy in the M the most.

What in general in a used G to look out for? Is this V6 good for the high mileage say 150,000 miles? Or are they having failures like the V8's (Extremely high oil consumption/My M was burning 1-2 qts every 1000miles now new moter is 1/2 qt every 1000mi with sythetic every 3000miles).

Thanks a million in advance for the info...

Sorry to hear of your experience with the M45
I love my G. It is the best vehicle I'ver ever owned. I had the extended warranty and only used it once for a new clutch slave cylinder at 92527 miles last year.A couple of tire pressure warning sensors and a replaced drivers side air bag control module all replaced under warranty have been the extent of my troubles. My engine does use oil about 1 quart every 3k miles. I have given my G 37 oil changes thus far 2 of which were done by the dealer. I just hit 121k miles today. I have no desire to purchase a vehicle with a V8 engine. The G has all the power I need with a V6 that runs fine on regurlar 87 octane currently $2.43 in New Jersey.

If you can afford it I'd recommend that you buy a new G37 6 speed manual.

You mentioned regular gas.
Strong opinions here on it's usage.

My 2008 G35 Sedan owner's manual says that Premium is recommended, but Regular can be used but a drop in performance may occur.
It also states in there that for the G37 engine, Premium should be used, but Regular can be temporarily used. So, I would not run Regular in a G37 ever unless there was no other choice and I had to use the car.

Personally, I run Premium in both my Coupe and Sedan. When there was a shortage of Premium, my Coupe stayed parked and I ran Regular with no problems in my 2005 G35 Sedan. I'm thinking Regular would be fine in my 2008 as well.

None of the 4 G35's I've owned ever consumed oil. But, all 4 were automatics.
The problem was with the manuals. Personally, I would not own a car that burned oil, just me.

I'm currently debating whether to get an extended Nissan warranty before my 08 warranty is up.

Thanks for the premium gas advice, what sort of MPG are you getting in the 08?

SVT...Yes the burning oil is a real pisser about the M45...I think a lot of problems resulted from them doing an engine swap but I had to do it. I was upside down on what I owed on it and it smoked on start up in my garage where the A/C handler is and I am in Florida smoke lingnering in my garage means its going into the house. Most see a new engine as a good thing but I would have rather the car not burned oil in the first place.

get the highest year you can afford and you wont go wrong... i'm on my second G... went from 2005 G35x to 2010 G37x. my G35 averaged about 17-18 MPG mixed and my G37 is 18-20 MPG mix i have a heavy foot too) and even better on the highway because of the 7th gear. I had no problems with my 2005 G35 and my 2010 has been perfect so far... :yesnod

If I were you I would take anything from 07.

07 first year. No major issue. Pitting grill on some and trim around the window switches on the door pitting. Fixed in mid 08. Throttle on the 07 much more sensitive than the 08.

Unfortunettly no A/C seats. But you get what you pay for I guess.

Ok, found a brand new 2009 G37 sedan in white/wheat interior or silver/stone interior. Since no A/C in seats will go with a light color and tint the windows. The white one is a brand new Journey stickered at 37+k it has bluetooth, homelink, and I assume XM radio (It list 10 speakers to the radio). The dealer is taking $6000 off sticker. I really need to be below 30k, do you think I can work it out, or is not worth trying to negoiate or is this pretty much rock bottom for this car. I am assumming since it is a 2009 it has been around on the lot for a while and they want to dispose of it. The warranty starts from title date right at least thats what happened on my M45, is this right?
