Looking at the '08 QX56 - n00b with questions...

Hey everyone. I'm enjoying reading all the posts on this forum, so thanks for all the great info here.

I'm currently looking at an '08 QX56 at a local dealership. They say it was a leased vehicle, it has 12k miles on it, and is a really great price. There's not a single available option missing from the thing, and I like the colors, too! It's an Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, so the warranty is extended even better than a new purchase.

One of the sales guys told me that the QX sits on an Infiniti car frame, not the same as the Armada...which I just can't wrap my head around. From all the research I've done, it's the save SUV as the Armada but with a few advanced options. Is this guy full of it or what?

The only other thing I'm curious about is that I've read a few posts here about folks with the Armada or QX56 that have experienced brake problems, and also some odd squeaking throughout the truck. Any further insights you can provide? Have you guys/girls noticed this problem in the '08 as well?

First off, welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here as part of the Armada/QX56 Forum!

Wow, sounds like that dealer is a complete WHACKO!!!! You should go give him a lesson. The QX56 is the EXACT same frame as the Armada, not even close to being a car frame....that would be the FX. Sounds like the guy is a real tool. Yes, the QX56 is an Armada, with a few, and I mean a few, additional features.

BUY IT!!! The '08 is awesome! No brake problems, no squeaks, no rattles, it is a bargain for what you are buying, especially with all the options. Just make sure you are getting a really good deal since it has 12k on it already. You can buy brand new ones with huge discounts right now because of gas prices. The '09 model should be coming out any day now (which has NO changes except for locks that automatically lock at 15mph). Good luck!

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks for the post. I'll be heading over this morning to pick it up. Got a really good deal on it...much better than I was getting on the brand-spanking-new ones. And, because it's an Infiniti Certified Pre-owned, it actually has more warranty than new!

I'll post pics once I've had some time to calm myself down over the purchase. I've been looking forward to this for quite a while!

Yeah, the dealer is a nut.

In fact, the QX56 is the only Infiniti that is NOT based on a car platform.The QX56 uses the Titan/Armada 1/2 ton truck frame. It is indeed the same as the Armada with some upgrades.
