The car i'm looking at is a 1990 240sx h/b. The chasis has about 190,000 miles on it and the RB20DET has about 85,000 to 90,000 miles on it. The guy says there is no rust spots and its mechanicaly perfect. He wants $6500 for it but i think i can talk him down. The motor was swapped buy Allspeed performance so the install was good but after that i dont know and the car is modified. Let me know what u guys think and what u would do. Thanx

How was it installed? Motor mount kit? dose it have LSD? Dose it have P/S? dose the A/C work? How much would it cost you to do the same swap? The Rb20's go for 1400 shipped in most cases.

The thing is i don't know how to swap a motor and dont know how much it would to have it professionally installed.

Is that still too many miles if the body and chasis still looks likes its good shape and what about the motor? Do RB20DET motors hold up good after around 90,000 miles?

personally, i think swapping the motor in yourself helps you determine any problems u may have in the future, cuz you can narrow things down ..and its cheaper

IF the motor was taken cared off then it should last alot longer than that. Did he change the Timming belt bits? and put on a new water pump? You can look for yourself to see if it really have MCkinney mounts by the color of the mounts. If it's blue then they are the Mckinney ones. Dose the car have the Stock Sidemount intercooler? or did he upgrade it to a Frontmount? If the A/C and P/S work then thats a hell of a steal if everything is good with the motor and the swap.

Hey dude...not trying to bust your balls, but I notice that you currently drive a Z24 Cavy...you are aware that a 240 with an RB20 is a very different creature that your Cavy. Make sure you take your time getting used the S-chasis with a larger engine and RWD with LSD. It took some time for me getting used to my Laurel. First car I have owned that was RWD, I6 turbo, and LSD. Be careful, and don't go raging that thing on the street till you are 100% comfortable with the car. The 240 is a great car even with the KA, but the RB makes it a lot more different. Drive well.
