hey guys i killed my ca (rod knock i think) anyways im going this week to look at one in my aera the thing is dirt cheep like $300 but heres the catch i have been talking to a friend about it (the guy who found it) and apperently the shop told him that its a 2.0l ca20 block with 1.8 heads is that possable will it work? and how can i tell if it is a ca20 block any distinguishing marks or even serial # but thats not the problem well one of them.

they also said that 2 valves are bent and thats why its so cheep but they are bent from overboosting is that even possible? if its just the valves that are the problem then its an easy enough fix as i have a complete head laying around im just woried the piston hit the valve or something. so any help on this situation would be awesome thank you

If you look on the exhaust side of the block and just below the #4 exhaust port, you'll see the engine's classification and birth marks. And BTW, you don't bend the valves from overboosting, but you do melt pistons and even the head. If this is the case, you may as well just fix what you got. This deal you're about to get sounds fishy, so stay away.........

CA18DE(T) head on a CA20E block is whack. It kinda works, some of the oil and coolant passages line up, some don't. A custom timing belt is required. CA20E rods are like matchsticks, and the crank is tiny... The pistons are high compression, not good for turbocharging, and overall its not a very practical hybrid. I would stay clear of that crap.

Yea, I heard about one guy getting a DE head on a CA20 block, but I thought he had problems with the head-block passages lining up and had to get new rods and pistons.
