Looking at a used versa

I'm on the fence about buying a used Versa and thought this might be a decent place to ask. Are there any common issues that appear at high miles? I'm looking at a 2007 Versa SL hatchback from a fairly reputable dealer. The 117k miles has me put off a bit, but these must be mostly highway. Other than a really loud fan on high I was impressed with the ride, especially the seats and rear passenger room and it's in the middle of my price range for a vehicle, $7,000.

Welcome!
We have a member on here with an 07 Versa, and he has 250K miles on his. :bowrofl:

Most of us have had minor issues (such as the Fuel Pressure Regulator). I only have 43K on my 08 model and I've only had the FPR replaced and a small sunroof issue. Other than that, she still drives like the first day I picked her up.

If you look between an S model and SL I think you will like the features of the SL a little better.

Good luck with your decision :)

117K (727ml) may seem a lot but if the engine is running well and you change the oil and filter twice a year it should do the same again without a problem. Look at the car carefully if it is in good condition in and out it has probably been looked after well and that can tell you a lot about a car. True a dealer can do a good job in cleaning a car up ( detailing I think you say on the other side of the pond) but he can't cover up the tell tail signs of neglect. If it looks good, runs well, all the bells and whistles work, it would be worth the risk as they are reliable cars.

I sold my 2007 SL HB to my son at 99k miles, and he's probably close to your mileage by now. Neither of us had problems with it (not even the fuel pressure regulator), and I'd still be driving it if he hadn't had an accident in his previous car and needed a decent replacement. I usually get 200-250k miles out of my "cheap" cars by taking care of them and not pushing them too hard. That doesn't mean slow, though - 1/2 of my 108 mile (RT) commute is 72-75mph!

Thanks for the replies! I took it to a mechanic who only found an eyelash-sized windshield crack for an issue. Got it for $6,700 and am very happy with it so far!

Now I just need to find some good floor mats! :dblthumb:

Congrats!

If you are willing to spend the money, I recommend weathertech mats.
They are incredible.

I ordered the digital fit ones for the front and rear of my Versa (and just ordered a set for my parents new minivan).

The rear are one piece and cover the 'hump' in the middle:

The front ones have huge side walls to prevent water from going on the carpet.

Best investment of winter mats ever ...

I haven't taken pics of the minivan's new mats since the car hasn't been driven since they brought it home. When it warms up I'll add pics to my show off thread. It covers the entire rear floor and works with the stow'n'go feature.
