I would make sure everything with the engine is good first. It is nice to be able to inspect them before you purchase. I am glad I got mine from a buddy (only $500 lol) cause so many people just order one up and who knows what you will get.

500 seems like a good deal haha, but yeah it def is worth it to spend an extra 200 - 300 or so to be able to go see it in person and check it out before I buy it.Becaues I was originally looking on websites that import them from Canada, but it seems sketchy to me to buy a motor from Canada I have never seen and to be paying 1800 shipped for it.I'm going to buy it from jdmenginedepot.com, but they are located 20 mins from me so I can just stop by over there today to take a look at it.

edit - yeah it's a red top

I went and checked it out today and the guys were really cool. They have a beautiful r32 sitting outside for 7.5 grand with a rb20.

Anyway they had 2 sr20dets and both looked good except the one had like a siezed altenator and the throttle was sticky and it wouldn't move correctly so I chose the other one and it's in a pretty good shape just needs a good cleaning.

How much hp can I safely run on this motor with stock internals? Because I'm debating if I should get new rods, bearings, pistons while the motor is already out.I'm looking to get about 350 to 400 horse, but not sure what turbo or setup I'm gonna go with yet

Also is there any parts I can use from a ka single cam for my sr swap? Like the radiator fans?

I put a deposit of 1000 down and I'm gonna go pick it up this weekend and then I'll have pics for you guys.

the internals will hold the 350-400 whp you want...but that is assuming the internals are in good condition. If you have the money and the time for a rebuild then go for it. If it is going to be a burden on your budget and time then don't worry about it. Its easy enough to pull an SR back out (2-3hours) that I would make sure it starts up well and drive it for a while. There are numerous turbo's to go for that will get you in that power band. Just take your time and build and tune correctly.

The fans will work with the SR

Alright cool thanks for the info. That is true it won't be that bad to pull it back out. We'll see what happens I guess, I mean I have all winter to work on it so I'm in no rush.
