Despite all the bad stuff said about venus auto I plan on getting my engine there but only because I can look at it. I only live about 60 miles away from there so I figure if I look at it and see that its ok then Im safe getting it right? I called them today and they said that I can look at the motor if I come down plus if its a motor set theyd do the compression test for me and If I get the clip (which Im probably getting) they'd actually start it for me which is pretty cool. So when I go look at it, what do i look for? Obviously having a whole smic, radiator, fan, dp... but what else? What should the compression be? 160?

Thanks in advance!

Compression should be between 160 and 175, Ive seen some motors with as high as 180, but yours will prolly fall somewhere in the 155~175 PSI range. Make sure the numbers are basically the same, you shouldn't have a 160 then on the nexcylender a 175. Also check the turbo. Spin the actual turbine in the turbo. It should spin with realatively little resisitance and should not move vertically at all (I.E should have no shaft play) Also just use common sense when checking everything out. Does the engine look really dirty? Does it have any kinda broken accessories? Is all the wiring there? Check the coolant passages (the two outlets that go to the radiator) and look for extensive crusting or deposits, which would be bad because that would mean that you might have some coolant passage blockage. Check to make sure everything is there, and look over the side mount for any leaks or anything like that. Hope this helps and good luck Chris
